A Leman Russ Executioner and a Leman Russ Punisher back in 6th were surprisingly good in my meta. They became the backbone of my killing power, and could actually make use of the hull mounted weapons and sponsons.

Aspect warriors. 15 years ago I had only Banshees, now that I started 40k again I painted Scorpions, Dark Reapers, Fire Dragons, Swooping Hawks and Shining Spears and it adds a lot of flavor to the games.
I still have to learn how to synchronize them all on the table but it's lot of fun.

My best purchase? 3 Crimson Hunters to my Eldar army, they have been the most enjoyable unit to use in the codex and require much more finesse to use than Windriders, Spiders or Wraithknights... They may not be as competitive as those units, but I've never had as much fun with them. Actually I'm half considering purchasing 4 Nightwings to use alongside them for the new supplement coming out since I'm such a fan

Heavy flamers on my Leman russes. You'll be surprised how satisfying burning all those pesky deepstriking/outlfanking/out of position troops is. Melted a tau fire warrior squad and a breacher team at the same time in my last game while roaring "BURN FILTHY XENOS!".

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary. |

Probably my leviathan dreadnought surprisingly. I got him at the very end of a Heralds of Ruin kill team campaign, and decided that he would be the terminator who'd survived the entire campaign despite the INSANE amount of firepower sent after him every match. So now Daro the Undying rides a lucius pattern drop pod into battle with my Blood Angels and proceeds to mulch anyone dumb enough to not run, flat out, and turbo boost away from him on the turn before he can charge. So far he's racked up about 3k points in kills and he's only died once.

Back in 4th I added a whirlwind to my space marines and it was insane. I dropped the castellan mine templates on my marines, forcing anyone who wanted an objective to charge through str 4 hits and then to do close combat in it. Sometimes I'd drop the template on the enemy and then charged them with the marines. Every turn both sides would consolidate and since the mines went of every close combat you had a gamble to inflict far more wounds on either side. The marines however have atsknf so losing a combat ment nothing and the more their numbers dwindled the higher chance the enemy would take more hits and lose the next combat. Either that or you forced a pinning test on -1 leadership. with a 1/6 chance to fail if the enemy had ld 10 you could always count on pinning one enemy unit every game, and do far more on low ld units. The look on opponents faces when you pinned some 200p of necron Imortals with ld 10 was great every game. I loved my whirlwind to death.
