Hi all! It's pretty well known that I'm a vocal advocate for 'fluffy and fun' lists on this here forum, and I was wondering: at what point does your fluffy and fun list become 'to strong' for friendly games?

Point in case: I've been working on refining my silly Death Guard chem list for a while now, and this is what I've come up with:

Spoiler:
+++ Death Guard - Chem list (2500pts) +++

++ Legiones Astartes: Crusade Army List (Age of Darkness) (2500pts) ++

+ HQ (325pts) +

Calas Typhon (200pts)
··Master of the Legion [Creeping Death]

Legion Centurion (125pts) [Artificer Armour, Phosphex Bombs, Refractor Field]
··Consul [Siege Breaker]

+ Troops (560pts) +

Legion Tactical Squad (280pts) [19x Legion Tactical Space Marines, Legion Vexilla, Nuncio-Vox]
··Legion Tactical Sergeant [Artificer Armour]

Legion Tactical Squad (280pts) [19x Legion Tactical Space Marines, Legion Vexilla, Nuncio-Vox]
··Legion Tactical Sergeant [Artificer Armour]

+ Elites (610pts) +

Apothecarion Detachment (120pts)
··Legion Apothecary [Artificer Armour, Augury Scanner]
··Legion Apothecary [Artificer Armour, Augury Scanner]

Legion Destroyer Squad (220pts) [4x Legion Destroyer Space Marine, Missile Launcher with Suspensor Web and Rad Missiles Only]
··Legion Destroyer Sergeant [Artificer Armour, 2x Phosphex Bombs, Power Fist]

Legion Quad Launcher Support Battery (270pts) [3x Legion Rapier, Phosphex Canister Shot, Shatter Shell]

+ Heavy Support (1005pts) +

Grave Warden Terminator Squad (395pts) [9x Grave Warden Terminator, 2x Heavy Flamer with Chem-munitions]

Legion Artillery Tank Squadron (310pts)
··Legion Medusa [Phosphex Shells]
··Legion Medusa [Phosphex Shells]

Legion Heavy Support Squad (300pts) [9x Legion Space Marines, Missile Launchers]
··Legion Sergeant [Artificer Armour, Augury Scanner]

+ Legion +

Legion Astartes [Traitor, XIV: Death Guard]

the basic premise is Typhon runs with the Grave Wardens, while everything else salt's the earth with phosphex or missiles.

However, my problem is that this list does very well whenever I run it. Is there a 'fair' way to tone it down for more friendly games, or have I just been really lucky with my match-ups? I mean, from what I can see: the infantry is durable (5+ cover in the open) and there's a decent amount of firepower going down range, but beyond the phosphex, there's nothing TO hard hitting, right? Thanks in advance!

Beyond this, what kinds of silly, fun lists do you guys commonly use?

Brutal but appropriate list! I would be scared facing that, but it is an appropriate and very in keeping with the Death Guard. For the next 500 points, may I suggest looking at the Reaping Rite of War to get that Heavy Support Squad into Troops and add in a heavy flamer unit with Chem Munitions!

For myself, I have nothing as extreme. But, I'm building up a Tank heavy list for my Alphas - Land Raider Proteus Squadron of 3 (Outflanking thanks to Explorator Web) with three Rhinos filled with Tactical and Tactical Support squads (Outflanking) and maybe a Leviathan in a pod. Having that lot coming in behind your lines will sure to prove a distraction and fits the Alpha Legions background nicely...

The burning pits of Hades, also known as Sweden in summer

This doesn't seem silly at all. I regularly face Typhon + Grave Wardens with our local DG player and it is brutal.

My silly list would probably be a MASSIVE Cult Horde of pretty much nothing but cheap Inducted Levies (with Zealot!) and some WB allies.

my perfect Imperial fist list would be for a 3k game, Stone Gauntlet with 2 20 man breacher squads a 20 man phalanx squad with a forge lord with solar gauntlet and shield with rad each with a apothecary and a ten man hamernator and shield squads with pollux. Backed up by three basilisks and a ten man heavy squad with ML with auto tank hunter.

Since you specifically asked how you want to make this list friendly, I would drop the following:

Legion Quad Launcher Support Battery (270pts) [3x Legion Rapier, Phosphex Canister Shot, Shatter Shell]

Against a marine heavy list, this is BRUTAL unit.

It's fluffy for your army, certainly. But it is NOT friendly. With the "crawling death" rule, or whatever, I have watched it put 25+ wounds on a 5 man devastator squad over and over again.

I agree on the friendly comment now, for some reason I thought it was a single template each, not 4

I run a Centurio Ordinatus army using the Taghmata, and Reductor army lists, and the Leviathan FOC.

It's three Ordinatus Minoris engines and a Magos Ordinator with five Thallax as a bodyguard.

One question?

Is this all you ever run? Is this the extent of your collection?

I wouldn't have a problem facing this, I would have a problem facing this game after game.

My suggestion, add in an Achilles land raider.

Why you may ask?

Just for the hell of it. I very rarely ever play the same list twice. I am having fun with my Alphas and Mechanicum until I can get my armoured breakthrough list ready for my Fists, but I also run Stone Gauntlet.

I don't know if you're talking to me or Donlad, but my Sig should cover my collection as to 'is this the only list' Nah, I've played it a few times, but it's far from my only list. more often than not I have some solar auxilia mixed in, or more recently I have my dread mob! (3 leviathans, 3 contemptors, 6 box dreads, and lots of techmarines/forge lords )

Was asking you, didn't notice your sig.

18,000 that's a lot of Death Guard. Would run my breakthrough list against your dreads, but again wouldn't consider that much fun on a daily basis.

How often do you run the Death Lord?

When I first started, all the time. Now that I have more, I usually reserve him for games large enough for the primarch to actually be there (3,000+ generally, though even then it's not guaranteed) A point in case: Saturday I'm throwing my mass dreadnought list (in a bunch of drop pods ) at a knight+warhound titan player to see how it goes. no primarch will be present.

Never.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
