Greetings again,
Well I as I wait for BaC & 40k Rulebook in the mail, I thought I ask fellow Iron Hand players for advice on tried and true tactics. As well as the general census the gorgons & immortals? How effective is the whirlwind Scorpios w/ IH? Any tanks preferred over others for them?
Would appreciate any advice because it took a looooooonnng time to finally decide on the IH.

Thanks

For me iron hands are all about the infantry army, the -1 str to enemy shooting means that in effect, every infantry model has a flare shield, it means that str 8 won't I'd you, you keep that FNP save, it's a very good Legion trait.

However that being said, they mech up incredibly well too, possible iwnd on all av13 or more models, tons of models with battlesmith if you want it.

Gorgons I think are good, they have catapractii saves, but are not actually catapractii, sarge can get a 3++ too, same with praetor, immortals I'm not sure about, never seen them used.

I thought Gorgons had the normal terminator save (5++) but had FNP.

With the BaC set I'm know I'll be more infantry focused. Was looking at 2 infantry Sqds w/Apothcaries, Terms led by Praetor all slugging up the board backed by comtemptor and 1-2 Sicaran's. And I can't wait to get my hands in Manus.

Yea they have 5++ but the sergeant can take a cyber familiar for 4++ but its only for him.

Gorgon Terminators have 2+/5++ but if they pass an invul save any enemy units in 6" have to take a blind test. They also have FnP 5+ stock. Pretty solid.

I have played against my buddy's 30k IH and tactical squads in rhinos backed up by gorgons and maybe immortals in land raiders you have a very robust force that is hard to get rid of. He runs Ferrus in an achilles and 5 gorgons in a land raider to back him up. 3 tactical squad in rhinos, a contemptor and 2 graviton cannon rapiers. Usually a fire raptor too, maybe a typhon when he's not running Ferrus.

Vehicles are really hardy in IH with all the iwnd and battlesmith you can sprinkle around.

Also if you want to run even MORE tanks take Casterman Orth. He's like the IH's better version of chronus from the smurfs in 40k. He can even be put in a super heavy tank! It will get BS5 AND tank hunters...holy smokes batman! Sicaran battle tanks and venators scream for BS5. Even a Vindicator Laser Destroyer would benefit greatly from him being on board. He'll give the tank a 5+ refractor field save too.

my 2 cents as a RG player

no, no, ALL units must take a blind test: friendly units can reroll it though.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.
