Hey guys...

So I, like many, am someone giving AoS a whole second look thanks to the super welcome announcement of the General's Handbook. I'll definitely be buy one, but in the interim wanted to try playing some AoS using those SCGT comps that people speak so highly of.

My question is two fold...

1. Is there any place to download all of the current War-Scrolls, or at least entire race's worth in one go, rather than go unit by unit on GW's webstore? I know the App exists, as does the buyable books, but for the moment the wife and I would just like to see what all of our old WHFB armies look like and work like, in the new system. We also don't tend to do our gaming with our phones/tablets handy as that time is, for us, an express escape from that stuff.

2. Are there printer friendly versions of War-Scrolls which nix the pretty pictures and colored backgrounds, and cut to the chase?

I haven't even looked, but I bet a well maintained Battlescribe module exists and would let us print out lists, but I thought I would ask. Thanks!

You can find all of the old armies here https://www.games-workshop.com/en-EU/Warhammer-Age-of-Sigmar-Rules. Stormcast, bloodbound and fyreslayers are not covered.

Didn't they also issue new war-scrolls to older races too, though?

Like, I see the old Dark Elves rules, but they also have different scrolls up on a unit-by-unit basis, if you go to the shop and sort by say... something Corsairs (sorry, i'm not familiar with all the new names).

^Those would be all of the legacy armies though, and some of the rules changed in the Grand Alliance books. Unfortunately I think they are all piecemeal unless you get the physical book.

It doesn't have unit info, but a good army builder is www.scrollbuilder.com

AFAIK only the names are changed for the older units - the rules are still the same (excluding the funny rules - these got axed). Regardless of whether I'm right or wrong these are the only print-friendly versions I know of on GW's site. I know that there are fan created unit cards so I wouldn't be surprised if the warscrolls are covered aswell.

Unfortunately no, the only versions of the battlescrolls are the ones from the app, which come with whopping great photographs at the top, and which you can download individually from the website. The ones in the compendiums are now out of date, and some include reasonably important changes (to spells & keywords and the like).

I know that you said you would prefer to avoid using tablets, but honestly you would be best choosing either between the app or between the relevant Grand Alliance books.

I'll probably end up with Grand Alliance books at some point if General's Handbook does its job and gets us actually playing the game.

I'm going to see how complete Battlescribe is for the moment as well.

Thanks guys!

If your handy with some sort of media editing, you could DL the warscrolls, and crop the pictures off, and arrange the remaining war scroll on a new page and make custom ones...

Thats how I make my army list... have couple pages of just the units I need.

I may do just that. I just spent an hour going unit-by-unit and downloading the ones with current key-words, etc... Super tedious.

If you are just trying to get the hang of things with your wife though the older compendiums should be just fine. Once you are happy you can start using the new ones.

Well, we did try a game using the SCGT Comps just to get some sense for how AoS feels with points (of a sort), and despite her trying to be cheesy, even with those Comp rules, and taking a Hellbron Cauldron of Blood, 30 Witch Elves, and some other assorted scary bits, and yet we still had a surprisingly close, interesting games where I feel we both had to make meaningful choices at different points.

I feel obliged to say this, but AoS seemed so very horrid at launch, but even the SCGT Comps have implied, to us, that the game itself wasn't soooo off the mark from being solid, fun, and capable of being balanced.

I'm definitely excited for General's Handbook and I sincerely hope the added points are as seemingly thought through as the SCGT ones, and that the inclusion of points finally lets the game take off around here where I literally have never seen a game played outside of a couple of demo attempts.
