Hi, guys !
This morning, I have the joy to present the Lord-Commander Eidolon himself !
He was a pleasure to paint, and quite quick at that.
I haven't painted his unhelmeted head yet, and I'm likely to repaint his cloak in a not so distant future, but so far so good. He is to lead my force to an event at the end of the month, so we are going to see him in action very soon !
I tried not to overload him with golden. Indeed, I actually really enjoy my paint of Lucius, on who I've been very light with golden and white paint, unlike Sault Tarvitz, so I tried to paint him more like that.
Here he is, enjoy :

Eidolon looks stunning! The selective use of white and gold works well on home! I look forward to seeing him in action!

Army looks glorious all together! Hope they do well this weekend, especially the Sun Killers. What a cool EC unit (that the internet doesn't seem to like much, which means I'm here for it )

Well, unfortunately we won't see how they behave as I got my wallet stolen and had to cancel going to the event... That's so unfortunate, I was a few hours away to take the train for Paris

Oh no! That sucks, hopefully it doesn’t cause much more of a PITA than missing the games. The Army looks resplendent in any case. At least this way the Sun Killers might dodge the bad luck of being a freshly painted mini!

So far, so good ! But it's a shame because it was the first HH convention in Paris, and it was quite a big event. I had been talking about that for months and literally the day before, that happened...

Well, today I have the very last unit of the army, the phoenix terminator squad ! And good news, found my light box so I also got better pictures of Eidolon.

The phoenix terminators :
Spoiler:

I didn't use a lot of decals, as they are already adorned enough, I didn't want them to look overloaded. They were very pleasant to paint but time consuming, a lot more than I thought initially.

Eidolon :
Spoiler:

All my characters have a cloak painted in a different way : the dark cloak is to sho the dark heart of Eidolon. The red one is the show that Lucius is driven by his passion, while Tarvitz wears white, a symbol of his purity of soul and heart.

Next, I am to paint the Primarch Fulgrim Himself. It's quite a daunting quest, I'm telling you ! It's crazy to eventually be there, after all those years
I know it's not 100% over, because I have to do a little tidying like painting the red optics and the power weapons green (I started doing this on the characters and really liked it), but overall, we are edging to the end of the project. And what a journey !
Anyway, I am not in a hurry and Fulgrim is going to need some time, so enjoy the pictures of today !
Thanks !

Sounds really Sh1tty, but you’ve got shiny new Terminators to help! They are super cool minis and look great in your colours. Love the idea for the 3 cloaks showing their character, nice one!

Hi guys,
Eventually something new :
Here is Fulgrim'd base.
I wanted not to draw attention away from the primarch, but still wanted it to be worthy of him. I used the tutorial from JuanHidalgo Miniatures for the Iron Hands (my first IH), I may have been heavy handed but I'm quite satisfied.
I still have to put the transfers on but I couldn't put my hand on them today
The base is magnetized in order to be easier to transport and to assemble
I painted the MKIV guy as an one of my EC, and as a veteran (if he is with Fulgrim, and has bionics, he is likely to be one in my mind) and the non MKIV as Iron Hands, in order to keep homogeneity with my army.
The golden on IH shields is simpler than on my EC, and I took the opportunity to paint their metallic parts differently too (Iron Warrior with a wash of Agrax and highlights with silver)

Now let's paint this Primarch done

I'm not as active here as I used to be because of real life, but I'm determined to keep publishing on this thread until the end, which shouldn't be too far away now !

Thank you Gobert !
I might start a late Heresy at the end of the year, around November, using Hedonites, HH and 40k EC models, but it's not yet set into marble
Right now I have another good news : I have found a reliable, if small group of HH players close to me, so I'll be able to get some guys every months, starting this week ! I'll let post some pics and battle report this Friday

So,
I had a game yesterday evening, but we didn't finish it because it was getting late, we took too much time flipping though the books and speaking before the game
It was my first game with this group of players, nice people with different armies (AL, IF, UM, Custodes from what I saw). They play a bit differently, ala Necromunda: using alternative sequencing. I don't know if I like it but it's not that bad and it's the way it's played in this FLGS
It was a 2,000 points game, and these were our lists :

Emperor's Children
The Maru Skara
Eidolon
Champion with paragon blade, jump pack and sonic shrieker
10 Palatine blades with 6 spears
1 contemptor with gravis melta and melta (flanking assault)
2 apothecaries
15 tac marines, 1 spear, bayonets, 1 vexila
15 tac marines, 1 spear, bayonets, 1 vexila
10 assault marines, 1 spear, 2 mauls
5 tac support squad 5 rotor cannons (flanking assault)
3 outriders, twin-linked melta (flanking assault)
1 javelin, 2 lascannons, 1 heavy bolter, 2 hk missiles
1 javelin, 2 lascannons, 1 heavy bolter, 2 hk missiles

I didn't want to bring a second dreadnought, as I didn't know the player or the list, but maybe I should have

Ultramarines
The logos
Cataphractii praetor, twin linked lightning claws
1 master of signals
Cataphractii with twin linked lightning claws
1 Proteus
1 deredo, 1 hellfire plasma, 1 missile launcher
1 leviathan, 1 cyclonic, 1 assault weapon
1 graviton rapier
10 tac marines, no upgrade
10 tac marines, no upgrade
10 tac marines, no upgrade
10 vet with some melta in a rhino

Spoiler:

I deployed on a flank, and he deployed on the opposite one
It was the 6th mission from the book, my objective was right in front of me across the battlefield, his was under the bridge, deep in front of his flank

The game was short and basically me advancing on the flank and the center, trying to endure his shooting and shooting back with the javelins while waiting for my flanking assault
Unfortunately I rolled a 1 and it became disordered...
I firmly believe the roll shouldn't exist as part of the Maru Skara but it is what it is

However it totally changed the way he played : instead of coming directly for his objective, he feared for his land raider and kept it protected inside his lines

We ended the game just as my units started to become in assault range so I couldn't really try it but from what I saw :
The javelins are still great units, as AT and anti elite : they destroyed the rapier, got 2 wounds off of the leviathan and made a tac unit runaway from the battlefield
The rapier is really annoying ! Top priority target
3*10 tac marines are really fragile : I made one runaway one unit with a few lascannons shots, I destroyed another one by assault it with my assault squad and champion
And the third one was to be engaged by my dreadnought if I hadn't rolled a 1 and the flanking assault

Rotor cannons in a flanking assault aren't bad, they arrived, got a los, and forced a pinning test on a tac squad (that passed, unfortunately)
I used to play them on the battlefield, but as 5 m'en units they are quie fragile. I'll try it again they way
My assault unit with the champion may be lacking in punch. Ok I rolled badly but they killed only 4 tac marines the turn they assaulted (my unit was half strength but I still got the mauls and sergeant and champion + chainswords)
I have to keep that in mind and not assault heavier units than despoilers

A deredo really is a beast in shooting, I should have targeted it earlier, he killed many platines with his S8 rending 4+ shots

Guys,
I got another game yesterday, against a Mechanicum list. But this time, I had time to finish the game !
Mission 2, 2,0000 points

We played alternatively, ala Necromunda, not using the standard rules. It is the way they play there.

My list :
Eidolon in a 10 man palatine blades squad with 6 spears
Champion with paragon blade, jump pack and shriekers in a 10 man assault squad with spear and two mauls
2*15 man tactical squad with a spear, bayonets and an apothecary
1*3 outriders with twin-linked melta
1*5 tactical support marines with rotor cannons
1 contemptor dreadnought with gravis melta, melta and gravis power fist
2*1 javelin with lascannons and HK missiles

Spoiler:

His list :
Archmagos in a 6 men thallax unit with photon thrusters
Arcuitor in a 3 men vorax unit
1 dominus
1*3 vorax
1*20 tech thralls
1 krios venator
1 thanatar cavas

Spoiler:

Deployment
This time, I did spread on all my zone, I was quite fearing the double plasma blast Thanatar and wanted to reach his lines quickly. I kept the same hidden blade , as even if the flanking assault was disordered last them, the composition was good
Spoiler:

T1
Night fighting
I started
I moved timidly towards his lines, afraid of getting assaulted by his ursarax and pinned by his vorax

It started exactly like last time, my troops taking a pounding from all the shooting while the javelins did the fire support
I destroyed two vorax and wounded the last one
A shame because I rolled poorly and it could have gained me a victory point
He pinned a tactical squad (not good in an objective based mission!) with the other vorax unit, and shot at my second tactical squad twice using his Thanatar, killing about 7 (and wounding itself in the process)
And he killed half my assault squad with his thallax and archmagos then moved again
I used the movement reaction to get closer, which was very important for the next turns

Spoiler:

T2
I kept moving forward with the assault squad, still too far away from his moving thallax, my hidden blade entered the game right behind this unit of thallax and the Thanatar
He chose to intercept the outriders and destroyed the unit immediately with the thallax
My half strength tac squad tried to rapide fire into the wounded last vorax but couldn't finish it

Eidolon and the palatine managed to assault the ursarax that got too close, killing them all but one (and this remaining engaged)
His krios again failed his shots against my javelins

Spoiler:

T3
I got the assault marines to engage his thallax, while he poured more men into the central fight : the vorax and arcuitor, despite lacking ap2
He tried a bold move with his krios: bringing him close to my deployment zone to get a Los, he shot at a tactical squad that failed its moral test. It thus exposes the krios it to a krak grenade assault by the other tactical squad that destroyed it
His tech thralls shot at this tac squad and also made them flee !
He tried to destroy my dreadnought with his dominus (that stayed in his deployment zone), managing to get 3 wounds off of him with his shooting and then tried to assault it, but using my unique EC reaction, I counter assaulted him and killed him at once
After that, my dreadnought engaged the thallax in the boring fight, heavily pushing the balance in my favor (my marines were slowing grinding the thallax down but both HQ couldn't hurt each other...)

Spoiler:

T4
The central fight stopped with all the Mechanicum models killed, while I lost a total of 4 palatine blade (and the sergeant during T1 or 2 due to some shooting)
The tech thralls kept moving towards my objective but didn't manage to hurt the tactical marines that both passed their leadership test
I killed about 5 tech thralls with the javelins
He then conceded, knowing that a single tech thralls unit couldn't win against Eidolon and company while his last thallax and HQ wouldn't last against the contemptor

Spoiler:

Overall it was a great game, me taking heavy casualties during the advance and lacking firepower and then getting the advantage with the flanking movement and the assaults
I believe that my opponent did two mistakes : he didn't shot at the palatine blades with his plasma blast Thanatar and didn't protect it. Thus, his only unit able to handle them did not, and he had absolutely no way to destroy them in assault
He focused on my line units, which is understandable in an objective centered mission, like I did last time (destroying 2 of the 3 line tactical squads of my opponent while taking heavy casualties), but this time, seeing as he had no way to face this deathstar, he should have at least targeted them once to weaken them
Well, it is what it is and I had a great game and an even greater opponent !
Another victory for the Children of the Emperor !

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Guys,
Pure food for thought
After having played the Marus Skara RoW, I was thinking about something very different
I ended up with the list below, what do you think about it ? Would be fun playing it and against it ?
I believe terminators squads shouldn't be too pricey (no, no power fists !) as they are just troops and no elite soldiers (WS/BS 4, LD7). Keeping them cheap while threatening for most of the game's infantry is the key, and thus playing EC I chose tartaros.
I tried to bring a lot of pinning weapons and units, and +1 to wound score
It's a pretty straightforward list and gameplay, but maybe less "I win / I loose" than rolling for the flanking assault to see if it's a 1 or not

Awesome that you’ve found a gaming group, looks like you had a couple of fun games and on some proper cool terrain (is the terrain yours or the groups?). Your army looks great on the table top. I can’t help on the RoW as I don’t play HH

Really glad to hear you've been able to get some consistent games. That can kill so many projects when you finish it and then can't use them easily!

Thanks guys !
It's a bit sad that the first game couldn't be finished but I'll glad that the second game validated my army list. It does work !
I won't get any new games before August though, as I am soon to be moving for work but after that we may start a campaign. Including me there are at least 5-6 HH players so it should be doable
