I've had a Dreadclaw for over a few months now because I really liked the model, but I've found it hard to find a tactical use for it on the table.
What it boils down to is that I can't seem to find a unit that's worth putting in there. I've tried Chosen with a lot of meltaguns but that seemed like a waste of the Dreadclaw rules.

Things that came to mind but I haven't tried are:
- Mutilators
- Chaos Terminators (accompanied by a Terminator sorceror)
- Chaos Spawn + Lord w/ jump pack
- Possessed (From the Tormented one's black legion Formation)

Terminators seem like a waste because they've already got deepstrike but I think the Dreadclaw rules really benefit them because it gives added durability and grenades to the terminators so it boosts their chance of getting in CC and their efficiency.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

Firend of mine uses Kharn and beserkers to some success.

Dreadclaw is the one that holds a lot of people and can move, right?

Terminators are the only cost effective option to put in there.

If I'm taking a Dreadclaw the best option is to play Daemonkin with CSM allies. Put Kharn and 9 bloodletters in the claw. Berzerkers are just not good value, the bloodletters are half the price and their AP3 weapons are a big advantage. If you do it right they will be protected by the claw before charging so their 5+ save isn't so much of a concern.

But really they are just a bodyguard for Kharn who is just brutal in CC against both vehicles and infantry. He is seriously underrated imo as long as you have a decent delivery system and pick a high value target that he can take down.

Of course the enemy can shoot the claw before the charge happens but if you're playing Daemonkin there will be plenty of other nasty units bearing down on the enemy which will give them some tough choices in terms of target priority.

Mutilators are best used as solo deepstrikers imo. Termies or chosen can be an interesting choice. Can't put non-infantry in there, so, no spawns or jump lords.

Either an assault unit, or Chosen with 5x special weapons + Combi-Weapon.

Only 10.

It comes into play in hover mode. The passengers don't have to get out right away.

It doesn't have Inertial Guidance System and has a decent foot print. Deepstrike carefully.

Best dreadclaw unit? KDK.
Best thing to do as CSM? Not take power armoured models.

Chosen are ok, but be sure to make them troops in that case. Making the claw objective secured by extension has won me a game or two. Chosen on their own are a bit too expensive with the claw just to get them close.

I suppose if you want to get fancy and insist on using our new formations because ... reasons , you could put the chosen from the kranon's helguard formation in a claw with the lord and deepstrike them along with the termies and raptors to get a good spread going. Maybe not a good idea, but outside of psychic spell randomness it's our only way of deepstriking troops that normally couldn't.
