Here you go:

I'm a bit disappointed in the setup. Minimal terrain, felt boards, and nowhere on the website did it say this was a battle points tournament. Most of us found out after the third round.

Do you mean that NOBODY cheated, or do you mean that you KNOW about somebody cheating at Wargames Con?

I think the less we go down that path, the better.

I regret that I wasn't into tournament 40k when I lived in Texas, or I would have attended one of the Austin or San Antonio tournaments. I hope you guys had a good time.

My friend was told by Jon wolf that there was more terrain but it wasn't used by the person who set up the tables. He didn't really seem interested in being involved this weekend. Its a shame to see the once mighty WGC fall so far. None of our group of five attendees will be returning. That's assuming there is evert another WGC.

The pairings were a horror show. The pairings were wrong twice. The third time I was told that anyone could just find a new opponent from the nearby tables, but just to let them know who was playing who. Face palm

Terrain was a little skimpy, of course my Dread Mob did not care thankfully. I had some really good games, nice playing against new people. I was frustrated with the pairings day one though, the second time didn't effect me thankfully.

There was indeed more terrain but it was not good terrain so I choose not to use it. Volunteerism this year was very low and I only got the tables finished in time with the help of attendees, so I had little to work with. In the coming year I plan on fixing the terrain issue.

As to pairings, yes we had a mishap in the third round that really only affected about 6 people but when it happened I did not know that so it did indeed appear to be a horrow show and I apologize for that. Everything else went smooth though! I hope you had a good time regardless.

The complaint about terrain is valid, I plan on fixing that next year. Why are felt boards bad? We have always had felt boards in previous years. We can't have all Fat Mats as they are really expensive to have 50 tables worth. The only reason we had them last year was frontline gaming was helping us and brought their own mats. Which is also the only year we have NOT done battle points.

Felt boards was not terrible, but in certain areas it was lumpy. Just got used to the FAT mats. I had one person in my group play on a space that was 63 1/2 inches wide. The ticket on the website says its an ITC tournament. We took that to mean W/L.

This was in no way a smooth tournament to be honest. The felt mats I can understand if you can't have every table with actual mats, but the terrain set up and the amount of terrain was a joke. With the event lasting this long over the years you would think at least making your own decent terrain out of styrofoam would have been better than what was provided. As for the changes in pairings, it was both round 2 and 3 which for some people with quite a bit of models in their list makes it quite a hassle that the changes in pairings should have been handled a lot different. The painting judge at the end of the tournament was not even judging the painted armies as best painted as it was represented in the rules and gave it to someone who did not have as good of a paint job as to him being themed g I Joe, which is total bull as where were far better painted armies than his. If your going to make your own rules than use what is actually stated for the tournament then you might want to tell the people that attend and maybe more can find out what the judge likes more as a theme and not waste time painting our armies I guess. For me and some of the people I went there with, the only thing that was good about the tournament was the players we played against although some of them need to try and play a bit more fair or at least learn the rules of their own army before coming to a big event. Don't think we will be coming back to this next year though.

Hunting with the 13th

I found the event to be very fun, with minimal snafus (with the mid-turn pairing issue being the only one of note; luckily, I only had to swap to the adjacent table, so we just kept all our powers and forged onwards). The venue/hotel was nice, and the hall spacious. The terrain was indeed sparse, but this sounds like an issue that they have since sorted for the following year (which I am hopeful to attend).

On the other end of the standings spectrum, I played Inquisition (with assassins) and had a blast. I managed to snag a few cam-phone photos of a chunk of the armies, if anyone is interested.
