(I did search but seems last thread was in 2010)

I was going to correct someone who mentioned putting Terminators in a Drop Pod, but decided to look it up first.

Looking in C:SM, I don't see anything that explicitly prohibits Terminators being deployed in a Drop Pod taken as a Fast Attack choice. Would this be a main rule book restriction?

...I just realized there's no restriction on that whatsoever.

Going by the rules, yeah you can totally do that (unlike the Rhino, which specifically prohibits Bulky and Very Bulky models from entering), as long as you make sure they can all fit in the drop pod (so only 5 terminators due to the bulky rule).

That's what I found in the codex as well and was shocked. AND I just checked the GW FAQ/Errata page to see if there was anything there and there is nothing for the new C:SM.

This also means that Centurions can be thrown into them as well since they're also classed as infantry. And Ogryns. Ho boy.

EDIT: I think this might be an oversight by GW as in the last print of the codex the Drop Pod was only available as a Dedicated Transport and none of those units had access to it.

Yea, I bet it was an oversight, but with the way allies work now... Completely viable haha

This also means I can shove Jokaeros into a Drop Pod.

Hohohohheeee. This gives new meaning to the term "Barrel of Monkeys"

I think the shift of them to Fast Attack was so GW could get rid of any units that didn't have a Battlefield role on it's own and this was just an unforeseen side effect of it as, to my knowledge, no other transport gained the ability to transport units within the same army that it couldn't do so before (Drop pods literally could not transport Terminators before since the pods didn't let you re-embark on them after dropping). However we will never know if it is an oversight or not unless GW outright says so.

Codex: Space Marine terminators have had drop pods as dedicated transports since 4th edition, IIRC.

Actually 4th edition was the only time they had Drop Pods. It was removed as a Dedicated Transport option in the 5th ed codex. This continued in 6th.

Another thing I realized was that in 5th edition only one Terminator Squad per army was allowed a Land Raider transport, so I've been basically cheating for a whole edition >.>

Oops.

I do grav cents in a pod all the time to kill the big uglys

I use land raiders to carry possessed in my CSM as the idea of a Melee only unit only having a rhino lacked logic.

The really evil idea of this change is though battle brothers.
All and all it was a good change

There is rumor of a 40K FAQ being worked on.

As is though, Terminators can be deployed in a FA Drop Pod. As well as I guess a whole lot of other stuff.

For kicks and giggles I've done melta assault cents with power armor Calgar in drop pods. Calgar socks fire and deters most counter charges then everyone gets to wreck face. Not exactly tourney list but it's fun. Breaking them off for dual assaults is also fun or sarg with melta and other two with flamers

Since it's been possible in multiple different codexes with drop pods since late 6th edition, and was even possible in the 5th edition Space Wolf codex, and has always been possible with terminator ICs (for as long as drop pods have existed, at least), I doubt it's an oversight.

It's no proof, sorry. It's more likely to be accidental than on purpose.

They accidentally moved the slot of the Drop Pod?

What purpose do you imagine they had then for shifting the pod from being a dedicated transport, if not to allow units to ride in it?

Spoiler:
Sarcasm.

Clearly the reason behind it is to have walls of drop pods and rhinos to block your enemies movement. Or you could combat squad your 10-man tacticals and give the 2nd squad another Razorback. You know, useful stuff like that.

Yes, this actually is the first time. Although it's cuz no one I know owns Centurions because they look too goofy.

I have bulky/very bulky models in mind. I actually don't mind the change. Don't have access to BA codex, but is this the way it works with them also? Gave up on BA a while ago..

Is there a way to put bikes in a pod? Not that it would make much sense

Made in ca
Insect-Infested Nurgle Chaos Lord

Bikes don't work because in the core rules it says that only Infantry models can embark on transports. The only reason Dreadnoughts and Thunderfires can get in is because the rules in the Drop Pod entry specifically lets them.
