I should have specified, the medicae is the primus variant which is upgraded from a Centurion. I couldn't find anywhere that stated those upgrades cannot lead your army (like a chaplain etc)

Still, he's a support officer and as such can't be your lead HQ. Bottom of page 4 of the January FAQ. These rules have been around for a while now, I'm kinda surprised they haven't added them into one of the core rule books (methinks December 2014 is when it was introduced, I'm not 100% sure on the year, only the month)

Yeah, most Consuls are labelled as Support Officers, so they cannot by your Compulsory HQ. You'd have to take a regular Centurion, or a Praetor.

As for the rules, we're still waiting on the new Crusade book, and I'm sure things will get cleared up in there.

actually, it's just the opposite. The only support officers are: Master of Signals, librarians, Heralds (though they also HAVE to be your warlord, unless you have a primarch) and Medicae; everyone else can be your compulsory option.

hmmm, now to rework the points again!
