ROW: The Reaping

Praetor - Cataphractii terminator armor, Combi flamer w/ chem-munitions, Power scythe, digital lasers
3x Deathshroud terminators - Power scythes, melta bombs

Centurion Siege breaker - Artificer armor, power scythe, phosphex bomb, void shield harness

Tactical squad (x10) - Extra combat blades, legion vexilla, Sgt w/ power scythe, melta bombs, rad grenades, and artificer armor
Tactical squad (x10) - Extra combat blades, legion vexilla, Sgt w/ power scythe, melta bombs, rad grenades, and artificer armor
Heavy support squad (x9) - Missile launchers, artificer armor sgt
Tactical support squad (x5) - flamers w/ chem-munitions, rhino

Apothetcarion detachment - 2x Apothecaries; artificer armor, augury scanners, rad grenades
Rapier weapons batters - 2x quad mortars

Primaris-Lightning strike fighter - Phosphex bomb cluster, TL rad missile launcher, EM storm charges

Legion medusa - phosphex shells
Legion spartan assault tank
Grave warden terminators (x5) - 2x chain fists, grenade launchers w/ toxin shells

=============================

Idea is to reign phosphex down on the battlefield to slow the enemy advance and whittle them down. Centurion stays with the heavy support for the protection of the void shield harness and conferring wrecker/tank hunter on the missiles so they can knock off an important vehicle or building. The grave wardens and deathshroud/praetor will start in the spartan, and drop kids off at the pool as needed, using the grave wardens for heavy anti infantry or run them up on armor for chainfist fun. Praetor and deathshroud termies to stay indoors until ready to frag a special character or nasty vehicle (melta bombs). The tactical support squad drives up the middle of the field burning stuff that survives the phosphex rain. Lightning fighter is used to pick off units/vehicles as able. Might switch the EM charges for another phosphex bomb cluster.

Unsure if I should stick an apothecary with grave wardens and one with praetor squad or one for each tactical squad to keep them on the board.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I haven't played a game of 30k yet, just observed, so I don't know how well this would work! Am I missing anything important?

I like it, though if you REALLY wanna do a fluffy scorched earth list do this:

switch over to creeping death (makes your frag missiles S: 5, you already have the seige breaker, gives everyone a 5+ cover, etc.)
Ditch the spartan, use the points for either more rapiers or more phosphex medusas (works 2 fold since we DG weren't to keen on using transports). if you go the rapier route, swap over to the quad mortar support battery and buy phosphex and/or shatter shells if you wnat a stronger alternative to ONLY regular shots that you get with a generic rapier weapon battery quad mortar. Any spare points you have should go to buffing up the tactical squad sizes imo as in a 10-man squad the apothecary and rad grenade is almost wasted.
the flyer, while fun, could also be used instead to pump up terminator squad sizes.

remember that you need opponent permission now to use relics in 30k.

maybe something like this?:

HQ
Typhon (or your praetor) w/ creeping death
5 Deathshroud terminators
1 siege breaker

TROOP
2 15 (or 20) man tactical squads w/ artificer, power weapon, extra CCW, vox (vexilia if you want it)
5-man flamer squad

ELITE
2 apothecaries w/ artificer + augury scanner (if you go the reaping, he don't need rad as your squad srgt has it. give one of them rad, not both unless you want insurance)
quad mortar support battery w/ 2-3 rapiers w/ shatter + phosphex
FAST
Lightning (the same way, though the phosphex bomb cluster is a huge risk)
HEAVY SUPPORT
10-man grave warden squad w/ 2 chain fists + 2 H. flamers
1-2 phosphex medusas

I don't know if this will all fit into 2,500 all to well, but it fits the theme you want, gives you more phosphex, and doesn't waste the points on a spartan (which imo isn't needed as much as it is taken) Typhon has his poison bombardment which just adds more into the chemical mess, as does the fluff reasoning for the 5+ cover save on all units (so much chem in the air, etc.)

This is not to say your first list wouldn't work fine, however.

Wow that looks great!! Thanks for the advice!

But where do I find the info on creeping death? And the different rounds for quad mortars? I only have the legion astartes and istvaan books at my disposal at the moment, so I might be missing out on some good options

righto, so from the looks of it, you're books are a wee bit out of date

the legion crusade list red book has everything from books 1-4, and the old istvaan legion book is now outdated. Book 6 has the new quad mortar unit and the rules for creeping death. The new legions red books has a lot of cool buffs for DG (things like our power scythes being way better, toxin being leagues better, and our buffs overall being better ) 1d4chan has a pretty solid overview of the changes: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000/Tactics/Space_Marine_Legion_List_%2830k%29

Just my opinion, but isn't it a bit lacking in anti-vehicle? The second list I mean? However, I do really like the idea as a death guard player.

shatter shells are pretty good at poppin' vehicles, as would be a large ML squad with a seige breaker + you always have the option to not run them as phosphex medusas and just go normal for some good S: 10 fun.
