Now, before I begin, I just picked up 40k again the other day. I haven't played since 5th edition, and therefore haven't bought any kits since then, so I do not know as to when exactly Games Workshop switched things around (Basically how "new" these things are).
Anyway, I purchased some new infantry the other day and noticed that the bases had big divots in the middle from where they were attached to the sprues. I remember previously, bases were attached on the side.
I ended up punching a hole through one base cleaning up the burr left by the sprue. This was nothing a little putty couldn't fix, but I figure I'm going have to fill in all the divots anyway before I paint the bases, etc.
This new little design quirk seems kind of frustrating to me. Does anyone else have issues with these bases? Or any better ideas on how to deal with them?

Bit of green stuff but I find just basing with sand & gravel hides it.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Unless it's sticking out below the bottom of the base, there's not really any need to do this...

Yeah perhaps I'm overthinking things. For whatever reason though, these things bother me lol
