Hello there Dakka another Warhammer refugee here. Having given up on WH my buddy and I are pressing our old armies into KoW service. So I am throwing some lists around. I have several large WH armies and Dwarfs are my largest and have the most painted so I am inclined to start there. We are starting small with 1250 points, which I am finding gets you quite a bit of stuff. So here is what I have come up with
Ironclad Horde
Ironwatch Rifle Troop
Ironwatch Rifle Troop
Organ Gun
Dwarf King
Ironguard Regiment w/two handed weapons
Army Standard
Ironguard Regiment
Organ Gun
Ranger Regiment
My friend is starting with Rhodigia or what ever it's called. Being new to things I'm not sure how Dwarfs match up to them. I am also kicking around Twilight Kin and Abyssal Dwarf lists. So any thoughts?

I would very much recommend getting some Brock cavalry - they have been the unit that has won me more battles than any other.
It doesn't have to be the Mantic figures - there are Ral Partha/Iron Wind and Reaper dwarfs mounted on mountain goats, and there are several companies that do bear riders.
But having cavalry makes an enormous difference in an otherwise slow moving army.

Ah, thanks for that. I had been looking at some Dwarfs on battle rams. I believe they are made by Westwind Productions.

I have over 20,000 points of GW Dwarfs so I will be sticking with what I have for now. But as I see how game play goes I may be tempted to add some riders in. I like the models, honestly I think I like the rams more than the dwarfs
I have seen the Organ Gun used in a lot of battle reports but how well does the Bombard perform? I was thinking about using my stone throwers for them.

Those battle rams are pretty cool. About the same price and in metal! There's several different rider and mount options for mounted dwarves in the Dwarf Wars line.
I don't know what the difference in shipping rates is, but rather than packs of 3, you can buy packs of 10 from Old Glory miniatures in the USA.

I believe it contains the command minis also.

That's it. I knew that I saw them somewhere state side. Old Glory usually has a both at a couple cons a year and have stuff for a discount so I could probably pick them up their cheaper.
Know I am thinking that the Cletic Dwarfs on the War Pigs would be good Brock Riders for making my old Slayer army into a KoW Dwarf Berserker Army

Honestly, I'd skip the Bombard and just get the standard Ironbelcher cannon.
War machines are dicey, and don't hit as often as you might expect. (5+)
A Warsmith goes a long way to making the war engines more useful - most notably with the Organ Gun and Flamebelcher (Elite - reroll those pesky ones!), but having a Warsmith within 6 inches of an Ironbelcher cannon at least boosts the Blast by one.
The Bombard does not get a bonus at all.
*EDIT* Nevermind - the Bombard doesn't need a Warsmith to get a d6+3 Blast, so it doesn't lose anything, it just does not gain anything. (Except 2 Piercing. But Lob It is worth it.)
The Auld Grump - I miss dwarf cannon getting grapeshot....

I am looking to start a Dwarf army soon, too, and would like them to keep the old WHFB Dwarf spirit alive.
Does anyone have a good idea for unit profiles to use as counts-as Gyrocopters? I was thinking about allying in either the Elven Drakon Riders, or Nature Air Elementals (cheaper, and losing Crushing Strength actually seems more fluffy for Gyrocopters which are not known for melee!), and then either Kaba's Hand Grenades or the Diadem of Dragonkind for their trademark ranged weapons.
Field one model as a Regiment, two side by side as a Horde, naturally.
Any thoughts?

Maybe a Hero from the Salamander armies- the Skylord? (Short range - 'blowgun' treated as a thrown weapon - only five attacks, but no minus for moving and shooting, and Vicious on top of a 3+ to hit. Add the Diadem of Dragon Kind and you can consider it upgraded to a flamethrower....) 11/13 Nerve.
The Auld Grump - Salamanders are in Uncharted Empires.

The nice thing about them being represented by a regiment is that I don't have to unlock them like a hero or warmachine. Probably end up going with the Drakon Riders as while I don't think their melee abilities are very fitting for a "flyer", they are size 3, which is.

I was thinking of using my Gyro copters as that Dwarf tunneling drill. I have the old ones so they would sit fine on a cavalry base, but the newer ones would be difficult.

Welllll, I'm actually gaming at 15mm, so I am actually making a go at using a pair of Dystopian Wars flyers (which are about 50mm long) each on a 50x50 base as a "regiment" of Drakons. Example below- not my paintjobs. Will also replace the too-modern gun with a circular hatch to alter the sense of scale. They will be a bit small, but I am going for an analogy of the old metal gyrocopters, which are pretty cramped, too.

I know several Dwarf armies that use Elohi rules from Basilea to get their gyros on the field. Conveniently Elohi are also very good (and with inspiring can do a fine job of keeping themselves in the game while the rest of the stunties stunt) - Salvage
