I haven't seen a single list on here that uses the shield line, gun rig or gun fort. Anyone think of any tricks where they might fit into a list?

The Drone Port is the best one: A floating aegis line without the upgrade options, but with four marker drones for only a few points over the native price of four drones.

I rather enjoy the shieldline. putting a squad of pathfinders behind the force field is win, especially if\when Shoadowsun joins them. The shieldline moves them, but they don't count as moving themselves, so markerlights can be used at full effect. They have a native 4+ cover save on it, which increases to a 2+ cover when joined by shadowsun. And each shot at them has a chance to get reflected back at the firing model\unit.
the fact that anything on it doesn't count as movement even if the fortification moves can be used for other units as well. . . broadsides essentially gain relentless on one, and vehicles on one can fire all their weapons at full BS. I used to use Longstrike with an Aegis. The shieldline is strictly better - movement and reflected shots.

What about a squad of sniper drones joined by a Cadre Fireblade? That's a 281 point squad though (x2 marksman x9 drones), and the target will always get saves so in my opinion not that worth it. I guess the only worth while use would be the pathfinder squad but as a high target unit anyway is it worth adding another 60 points to the squad that's going to take a lot of fire? Maybe the broadsides I guess and put a hammerhead behind them for a cover save... I dunno

I have seen the gunrig (the S10 gun one) used with darkstrider (the pathfinder character) in a FW squad manning the gun. Given his -1 toughness to whatever he shoots at, the S10 gun instant kills toughness 6 and the blast instant kills toughness 4.
It is a very interesting gimmick but not always useful and is not cheap or hard to counter.

It's too expensive both money and point-wise. I'd rather field more Crisis

Oh what about taking the ranged support cadre + shield lines? The pathfinders get shrouded (2+ cover on shield line) and can move the shield line without losing this ability! Maybe pair this up with an Armoured interdiction cadre with disruption pods giving them all 3+ cover saves behind the walls...

Re-read the formation. If they or their cover moves, they lose the shrouded bonus.

I've considered getting a Shieldline. I would put a Strike Team with a Fireblade on it. That way they can move with the shieldline and still get their Volley Fire from the Fireblade, plus they could drop a Tactical Turret on it as well.

It specifically reads "the shrouded special rule is lost immediately by any unit that moves from its starting location..." well its starting location is on the shieldline and I don't want them getting off it. It doesn't state "if they or their cover moves"

I actually rather like the Gunfort. 255 pts for 3 twin-linked hammerhead railguns is pretty darn awesome, especially since you can have one model with some awesome bonus (Darkstrider, buffmander's unit, etc.) fire all 3 of them. I've never used it before, but I'd certainly like to give it a try.
The fact that it is ITC illegal has most likely hamstrung its use significantly, as has the awesomeness of void shields.

I run the gun rig and quite successfully. I run a unit of FW with a Firecadre (is that the HQs name hehe?). He fires the gun at a different unit BS five and twin linked while the FW blaze away with extra shots. The rig moves where I want. Cheapest hammerhead in the book heheh. My Riptide with sky fire may take a ride too...with MC and Multi tracker he can fire the TL gunrigs, his normal gun, and his MM if they are in range. Add in that snappy interceptor and flyers fear me as well as harpies and Crones. Several opponents have become frustrated they can't kill the gun heheh. I like it bu YMMV.

What are the next 3 words?
I was referencing the parenthesis '(for any reason)'. Even if the pathfinders count as being stationary when the shieldline moves, they would no longer be in the same location on the field after it moved.

Why do you keep adding words here? It doesn't say "on the field" it says starting location, their starting location is on the shieldline and they don't leave it

So if infantry are embarked on a vehicle and the vehicle moves, do the infantry move too?
Also, the shield wall specifically says that the units count as stationary for the purposes of firing weapons. Shrouded is not a shooting attack. If you move the shield wall, you lose shrouded.

I use a Gunrig in my current list. I like it. the Gunfort is really fun and i have played with the Tidewall Rampart as well.
My current list has the Gunrig as follows, with the concept being the Commander can man the gun against flyer heavy forces but otherwise he goes with a Stealthsuit unit.
I really like having the extra firepower and it also helps me split up the enemies attention in round one.
he Gunrig can help the Pathfinders get that third Markerlight hit off and thus a free missile strike in my list, so the re-roll 1's is pretty nice that way.
