For those who wish to keep on the up and up with international politics.... Kim Jong Un has been promoted

It actually strikes me as a bit odd that he wasn't named Chairman as soon as he ascended to power, rather than how he kept the title of Secretary until now. I wonder if this will signal any kind of shift in relations with other countries like China?

North Korea acts as a good buffer between South Korea (and and the United States by extension) and China.

Also Kim's facial expressions makes us all giggle like school girls.

Still waiting for Godot.

even China is getting sick of their Fethery. At some point China is going to have to come forward and say "Hey America and UN....about that whole Korean War thing, Our bad."

even China is getting sick of their Fethery. At some point China is going to have to come forward and say "Hey America and UN....about that whole Korean War thing, Our bad."
A more likely scenario is when China grows tired of Kim, Kim will suddenly "decide" that North Korea's proper place is with the Glorious People's Republic, there will be quick transition and then China will just claim all of the territory for itself. Some Chinese officials will make speeches about how they plan to improve the quality of life in the region, the United States will make speeches about the violation of territory, nothing really will change for the people living in the region.

China may not like Kim's tantrums, but China is not going to give up the region when they have ambitions in expanding eastward into the South China Sea and beyond.

Still waiting for Godot.

I agree with that, apart from the bit about "nothing really will change for the people living in the region". Whilst there is poverty and problems in many parts of China I could see life in NK improving significantly under Chinese rule, even if it is only to the same level of the poorer parts of China.

Unless China decides to rule it as a semi autonomous region, where the NK government keeps going as is, but without the unstable influence of the Kims. In which case NK either keeps on going as it is, or descends in to an internal mess of infighting and power grabs, which could result in either China taking full control, NK descending in to a mess of civil war or revolution. Civil war or revolution may result in China taking action, or not depending on how Japan and US react.
