I hate to even ask this because other armys needs update and marines just get more to choose from : (.........
With that being said I'm returning to the game and wondering if this supplement has enough in it for ultras to make it worth the purchase? I would think for sky hammer alone it would be but I already have a clear copy of those rules on file. And I don't plan on playing any of the 30k models. Maybe for the new psychic powers but I was already happy with what I had to choose from and could I not just buy the cards for them right? Thanks for the opinions and advice!

Ultras do get less from it then the chapters specifically featured. All of the sub-formations should be useable. Won’t help if you field a Gladius, but for smaller games or alongside a CAD they should work.

yeah UMs kinda got the short end of the stick, but the psyker powers are kinda handy I guess.
Honestly I'd like to see an ultramarines supplement.

It would just be the Gladius and its related formations....its based entirely on the Ultramarine structure (it even replicates their chapter tactic). UM didn't get included because they were the feature chapter in the core SM Codex.
That being said, UM specific relics would have been a nice bone to throw, but since they already have 6 UM-only special characters, I guess its a trade off. At least you got new psychic powers you can use.

I don't like how Ultras don't get access to more formations in the Gladius than everyone else. They are supposed to be the experts. They should have access to every Aux formation in the book.

There are lots of nice formations, that could use. Skyhammer etc. but all the detachments are chapter specific and not Ultramarine. As said above, the Gladius in the main codex is as ultramarine as it gets.
I would consider the main codex to be codex Ultramarines. Like In the old days.

while true, I still think they should be able to use the aux with the Gladius itself. On well, it doesn't really affect me since I have the Sternhammer.

Yeah, psychic deck with the new powers would be all you really need. AoD doesn't really have enough in it for the UM to buy the book, unless you just like to have all the books anyway.

Plenty of the formations are still quite good, even outside a Gladius. Skyhammer Annihilation Force, Raptor Wing, and a few others are still very good for Ultras.
