Heres an interesting question. Can more than one army take a formation if they have access to the units in it and it is not specified that the formation is for army x?
For example, the Emperor’s Spear Aerial Company says it is composed of Valkyries or Vendettas. No where does it say that it is exclusively Astra Militarum (unless I really missed something) does that mean that the same formation can be purchased for MT Scions?
In the same vein is there any restriction on 10th company task force being taken by Blood angels? I do not have my book handy but I do not recall it saying space marines only on it (but I could be mistaken)

I thought you can take any formation from any army you wanted to.
The 'traditional' 7th-ed army is a CAD, an allied detachment, and a formation or two from one of those armies.
But, I don't remember seeing anything stopping you from building from just formations, all from different armies. Keep an eye on the allies charts though, and keep some units away from the others.
Now we get the Decurion-type detachments, made up of a core and formations (SM Gladius, Eldar Warhosts, etc). They have to be of the same army, but otherwise, no.

Page 28 of Mont'ka tells you that this is strictly an Astra Militarum formation, used alongside the Astra Militarum book.

Look at the top of the 10th Company Task Force entry. There's an icon right above it. That's the factions which can take the Formation; in this case that faction is just Space Marines.

Curses I missed that, I was hoping to use it with my MT. Oh well! With the incoming restrictions on battlebros and transports I wont be able use them in conjunction.

Is an Astra Militarum CAD required to take that formation, though? Can it be used without taking any other AM units?

It can be used without any other AM units, it's a detachment in and of itself. It just can't be used to transport anything when it comes in that isn't from the same detachment.

Battle Brothers allies rules lets any Imperial unit embark after deployment?

Oh, after deployment and when they're on the table, of course. But you won't be able to deploy them in whilst the Valk/Ven is in reserves, which is what the FAQ addressed.

and kinda makes the accurate air drop of the formation useless. I was envisioning 3 vendettas with melta scions dropping in to say hi with knights on back up
