Since Psychic Shrieks are so potent, I've been thinking maybe this might be a way to play a decent Chaos list:

Chosen of Abaddon Formation:
------------------------------------------
Level 3 Chaos Sorcerer - Terminator Armor, Veterans
3x Chaos Terminators - 3x Combi-Melta, Veterans

Level 3 Chaos Sorcerer - Terminator Armor, Veterans
3x Chaos Terminators - 3x Combi-Melta, Veterans

Level 3 Chaos Sorcerer - Terminator Armor, Veterans
3x Chaos Terminators - 3x Combi-Melta, Veterans

Daemon Engine Pack:
------------------------------
Warpsmith - Veterans

Forgefiend - 2x Hades Autocannons
Forgefiend - 2x Hades Autocannons

Forsworn Detachment:
-------------------------------
Renegade Knight - 1x Avenger Gatling Cannon

Renegade Knight - 1x Avenger Gatling Cannon

Total - 1987 Points

The idea is to use the Knights and Forgefiends to shoot things, and then the Sorcerers will come down and get to shrieking! Really, the theme is to have my sorcerers shriek alot, I'm not married to any of the rest of it. What do you all think, and are there better ways to make this work?

The "Exalted Champions" rule gives each unit fearless and "Blessed by the Chaos Gods" means each sorcerer a starting roll on the Chaos Boon table. The main idea though, is that this way I can get multiple sorcerers with terminators that can deepstrike. Icons would make this more reliable I suppose but this is the base idea.

Of course this may work better with the Cyclopean Cabal, getting more sorcerers and less terminators. What do you think?

I recently played against the Chaos "Conclave", and it was brutal. The threat of your 24" "I get to shoot you with your own guns" power certainly made me keep my grav cents back.

@Fish
The Cabal's power is certainly a good one, but I was really trying more to max out the shrieks I have to see if such an army would be able to hang.

It seems really expensive for the Cyclopia Cabal. 3-5 sorcerers and require 3 activations, and the moment you're down to 2 sorcerers you can't use the power anymore.

I'm not seeing that. You just get free dice to use on the power for fellow sorcerer's from the formation within 12" of the caster. It doesn't specify how many still need to be alive, just that it's the perk for taking the formation.

Are you sure? How I read it is that each sorcerer in the formation contributes 1 die to the psychic test specifically for this power. The formation's minimum requirement is 3 sorcerers, because the psychic power requires 3 activations. If you lose a sorcerer in this formation and you only had 3 sorcerers to begin with you can no longer activate because you would only get 2 die to contribute to the test that requires 3 activations.

That's not how I read it. I read it the same as BossJakadakk. But again, I'm looking to spam Psychic Shriek more than I'm worried about the Cabal's psychic power.
