NW Illinois Suburbs

So I've recently gotten back into the hobby and found a bunch of Orks that I started working on last year, but I don't have much. I'm looking to expand this into 1500 points just for some friendly games, but I don't really know what the best units for Orks are in the current meta (mainly against IG and Necrons).

Here is what I have:

1x Warboss
8x Nobz
3x Meganobz
3x Killa Kans
1x Deff Dredd
4x Trukks
18-20x Boyz
1x Mek
5x Lootas
1-3x Koptas

If this isn't the right place for this, please let me know! Thanks in advance for your help.

I've heard Traktor Kannons work really well against Flyers/skimmers (and Necrons have plenty of those).

Orks are a bit weak right now, and need mobility and durability to get where they need to. So stuff like 'Eavy Armor (which is now limited only by point cost ), trukks, Meks with Kustom Force Fields and Painboys are always welcome.

Also Da Finkin' Cap can help, as if you roll well on Strategic Traits you can infiltrate a few mobs to get them right in the enemy's face.

So long as it's orky, it'll be fun (not the best advice, but still)

With what you have you may already start with the trukks, boyz and nob in it (+ warboss). You increase the number of your lootas to 10 or 15.

After, I advise you to use some warbiker and tank busta.

i would say bikes, or lootas. my new lists im trying to run have tons of bikes and some lootas inside a stompa!

I am not a big fan of Stompa.

It's fun to have this big models in your army, but it's pretty expensive and not really this dangerous.
I agree that with a Big mek and the 4++ it will be very hard to take him down. but it will cost almost 1000pts...

I prefer to have a lots of bikes, lots of trukk with boyz of all kind.

1x Warboss ................(get one in megaarmour and one on a bike, the standard one isnt that good)
8x Nobz .....................(nobz are bad... they are fun to play but not strong)
3x Meganobz .............(solid unit, give em a trukk)
3x Killa Kans ..............(its garbage... dont even bother)
1x Deff Dredd .............(not very useful, but i like em... fluffy as hell)
4x Trukks ...................(i love ma trukks... give em rams and a rokkit)
18-20x Boyz ...............(MOAR BOYZ... you need at least three trukkloads full of em)
1x Mek .......................(meks are great... put em in boymobs and they'll soak up challenges so the nob may strike)
5x Lootas ...................(great unit get at least 10 so you can field a big mob or 2 small ones. always upgrade one of em to a mek, for leadership purposes )
1-3x Koptas ................(great unit 3 are enough though)

i would recommend:

TANKBUSTAZ!!! they are arguably the best ork unit

16 more boyz (to fit em in the trukks)

bikes... at least 6 of em

HEAVY
mek gunz... oh man they are great... i prefer megakannonz (s8 ap2 blast) although one or two traktor gunz if your opponent uses a lot of flyers

Warbikers
More meganobz. Aim for 15 to bring the awesome bully boyz formation. Also getting some models to work as FW Gun Wagons would be great as well.

This guys effective example list is what you should go for. It uses your models and is uses the better units in the ork codex. However things like KMK and ammo runts no longer work anymore to remove gets hot.

are you talking about the new FAQ? i was under the impression that it clarified that prefferred enemy (and other abilities that lets you reroll 1's) wont let you reroll gets hot.
an ammo runt lets you reroll a 'to hit roll', which is a different thing and totally fine for rerolling gets hot rolls.
