I could swead I saw a different version of this qoute in one of the books. It was pretty much the same.

Wait, didn't they have a deep-seated grudge with the Imperium? Something about the SM exterminating all sentient life on a few of their worlds and annexing them into the Imperium?

Yup. They hate the Imperium and are nursing a grudge. They probably work for the Tau because the Tau are some of the safest employers a mercenary can have in 40k.

40k is 111% science.
