Subject: Luna Wolves: 40k Chapter Tactics and Mark IV or Mark III Armour

Hey mates, as it stands I have a BT army with 40k models and I just started collecting a number of Betrayal at Calth Marines for my 30k army. And after debating, I opted to paint them and run them as the Luna Wolves as I am a fan of there fluff before the became the Sons of Horus, as well as the Luna Wolves final stand against the traitors of there Legions. With that being said, when using them in 40k games, which Chapter Tactics or Army Rules would fit them best in your opinion? Fluff with them is being an aggressive, hard hitting army so there are a few options for that.
As for Armour, I currently have 10x Mark IV Marines from the Betrayal at Calth set atm, as well as 10x Terminators. However, I am still debating if I should go with the Mark IV or the Mark III Space Marines for my Luna Wolves army. In your guys opinions, which one do you think would look better for a Luna Wolves Army? Appreciate the feedback.

What with the whole Speartip being part of their battle doctrine in the novels, I think the new white scars decurion would suit them down to the ground.

That is what I was thinking when I use them as part of a Mechanized Unit in Rhinos and Razorbacks. However, I plan to go with a Drop Pod Army first and foremost so what are your thoughts on that? Salamanders and Space Wolves are good choices, but I have been serisouly considering BA for the fact they get Hvy. Flamers and Inferno Pistols in there Tac Squads, FT Formation allows me to take Assault Marine Squads with 2x Meltaguns in abundance, and Dante is just too good to pass up lol.

The Skyhammer annihilation force springs to mind, as does the Skyhammer orbital strike force from Kauyon. I can really see the Sons of Horus coming out all guns blazing. As for chapter tactics, I can see why you would pick BA for the shiny toys, but I think Salamanders or Ultramarines would suit them better. The reason I say Ultramarines is because in the fluff they always seem pretty precise, which would suit all the rerolls.

Good point there for sure. How about the Imperial Fists? Mainly thinking of Pedro as Sternguard get Objective Secured/Count as Scoring Units, with him and the new IF Chapter Tactics does allow rerolls when failing to hit with any Bolter Weapon. Might be a good way to go if I opt for a more Veteran, Elite list. Never really considered the Ultramarines as they always seemed kind of generic but they might be worth a look. Space Wolves is an option I keep hearing too.

Fists would work well too, I've heard of people using them as a counts as deathwatch army because of the whole Bolter thing, for me it would be a toss up between the Fists and the Ultras, they both seem to be closest to how I imagine the legions operated. I don't think Space Wolves would fit at all, they are to divergent from the norm. I can't see Gavriel Loken riding into battle on a giant wolf, or in a sleigh.

I wouldn't field any Thunder Wolf Cav or any of those kind of lists. One I am currently looking at mainly is utilizing the Ragnar Blackmane Formation where I can take free Drop Pods for the units in the list. I think that one could represent Loken and the Luna Wolves very well as it is an aggressive list, plus I could always field Blood Claw Bikes or Sky Claws instead of regular Blood Claws and have my Grey Hunter Units mounted in the Drop Pods. plus I could make my own Wolfguard unit or use Ragnar himself, and he isn't that bad of a character for his points.

I still say White Scars are the best bet. Space Wolves just dont seem like a good match.

You can do that for sure. But the fact of the matter is that 30k vs 40k, 40k has the advantage under 2000 points. ROW are tame compared to formations.
