So, I currently have this in my collection, not all of it is completed yet but I am almost done painting everything except the Medusas. Some friends of mine are pooling together for a big FW order soon so I need to decide what to get.

Heres what I currently have:

Characters:
-Praetor in Cata Armor w/combi bolter and power sword/ paragon blade
-Kyr Vhalen conversion
-2x Apothecaries
-2x Seargants with bolt pistols and power fists

Infantry: (most have the extra ccw modelled on when available to take it)
-8x missile launcher havocs
-36x bolter marines
-2x nuncio vox marines
-5x plasma gunners

Special units:
10x Tyrant Siege Termies
3x Quad mortars

Vehicles:
-Contemptor with dual kheres OR chainfist and TL heavy bolter
-1x rhino
-2x vindicator
2x medusa
1x auto/las pred
1x LR proteus/phobos
1x unbuilt gw knight

My 2k list is something like this:

Ironfire ROW

-cheap delegatus (hides)
-siege breaker in cata armour, footslogs with tyrants
-5x tyrant termies
-2x 20 man tac squads with pf/aa on sarge and vox and apothecary in each
-mortis with dual kheres
-3x quad mortar
-2x medusa

So what to buy? I don't want to get the Iron circle just yet, I will get them when I do apoc games. I for sure am going to buy the big grimdark man himself, even if only to paint. Should I try expand my Ironfire list or try to develop a hammer of olympia list, or go for the ubiquitous spartan deathstar style...so many options! I could even get some mechanicum allies, but I have no clue as to what would help my current (or potential) list(s).

To be honest for Iron Warriors i prefer militia allies instead of mechanicum.

Most importantly Iron Warriors dont do spartan death star well, our termie unit of choice is always gonna be tyrants and you want them walking up the board in a group of 10 with perturabo for bs5 and a siege breaker for tank hunter destroying everything before it even gets close.

This.
Some Traitor RoW allied in militia allows the entire IW force to out flank. Of course the Militia must set up on the table and buy a fortification. Nasty, nasty RoW

Do you want to stay loyalist/use kyr you should get a bunker and aim for Hammer, he does it best. Would also be nice to have lascannon havovs to go into the bunker.

To be honest I'd recommend getting pert, Ironfire makes him one od the best primarchs period

To be honest for the varied uses he has pert is perhaps the best Primarch for versatility, he does a few things exceptionally well and everything else very well but of course he does cost quite a bit.

Gonna grab him I think. Was thinking of DSing him with 5-10 tyrant termies running iron fire, supported by 2 medusas and 3 quad mortars. Biggest problem I am having is reaching scorpii whirlwinds in the backfield and I think this might help.

Yea i borrowed him off of a friend foor a campaign day and he totally wrecked the competition lol. Wandering around with 10 Tyrants and a siege breaker nothing wanted to get near him and the unit but couldnt get away from it lol
Plus getting turn 1 DS means that you get to charge on turn 2, just watch out for interceptor.
