Subject: 2500 Death Guard (Traitor): Fun list

So I'll be bringing 2,500 points of Death Guard to my FLGS next week. I'll be part of a 7,500 point force. No idea what the other players are bringing or which other players I'll be paired with. I'm thinking of the following:
Durok Rask using the Creeping Death ROW
2 x 20 man tactical squads + apothocary
3 x quad mortars
1 x 5-man recon squad
1 x 5-man Death Shroud squad
1 x 5-man Grave Warden squad
Seige Breaker consul
Primus Medicae consul
Sicaran
Leviathan with 2 x Storm Cannon
6-man heavy support squad with missile launchers (ROW makes frag missiles S5
This gives me 3 nuncio voxes with which to call in fire from my quad launchers. Any infantry in the open gets a 5+ cover save.
Sicaran and Leviathan give me some anti-armor
heavy support squad can play multiple roles.
Both Durok Rask and the Seige Breaker Consul can confer Tank Hunter to the missile launcher unit
Opinions and input solicited:
- Keep Durok Rask or replace with Crysos Morturg for the infiltrate? Currently, Rask is duplicative with the Seige Breaker Consul, but allows me take a Rite of War
- Keep my heavy support choices? I also have Contemptors with 2 x kheres and 2 deredeos to play with
- Swap one of the termie units out for another heavy support squad to maximize the Tank Hunter benefits

1) mortug is loyalist only
2) Rask only gives the tank hunter benefit to the unit he joins, not every unit, so swapping the terminators to 'maximize' would be worthless
3) I would actually ditch the Sicaran in favor of the contemptors OR some apothecaries to run with the tactical squads
others:
1) Grave warden are heavy support options, not elites
2) I say ditch rask, take a praetor + seige breaker + medicae gives you more versatility
3) at this point level, there will be LoWs so you need to be ready to deal with that
4) change up the leviathan to half shooty, half stabby w/ phosphex launchers, as at the moment he's basically an expensive deredeo.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field. |

Where does it say that Morturg is Loyalist only? It doesn't specify that in his rulens listing.
I am running an apothocary detachment of 2, one for each tactical squad.
No close combat arm for the leviathan, so it's either the two storm cannons or swap him out for 2 Deredeos and/or contemptors.

book 1 (what I'm assuming your using) is out of date. Mortug is loyalist only.
I didn't see the apothecaries listed, only a primus medicae
were that the case, I'd swap him for a deredo and then a contemptor.

Based on the fluff, i was looking for the rule indicating he was Loyalist only. In Book I, he is loyalist-only, only if you are playing an Istvaan III campaign. The red book is silent on the issue. Fluff-wise, if you are playing any HH campaign post Istvaan III, he should be Loyalist-only.
Now I need to finish painting my Deredeo. What has been your experience with the plasma vs autocannon variants? I do love the look of my Leviathans though.

New legion red book sets him as only available in loyalist armies, always. Same goes for all "loyalist" or "traitor" specific characters and RoWs.
as for the deredeo: the plasma is fun when you run him with the invuln buff, but it's generally 'better' in a termintaor light list to go with the AC + missile launcher if you have the bits. I love my leviathans too, now if Only I could field all 3 of them more often.

The old Legion red book has him as loyalist only, too.
Characters with a red Palantine Aquilla on their page are Loyalist only and ones with a red Eye of Horus are Traitor only.

Swapped out the named character for a generic Praetor. Have you found any value in running the pavaise on the Deredeo instead of the missile launcher. If I ran it up behind a unit of terminators, that would give them a 4+ invul.

Bum that noise. Give him to the grave wardens to make them even more tanky
That way of running him can be food, though remember that he be gak at a lot, and it only "shines" IMO for larger termite squads.
