So I've taken up the strange hobby of going on 1d4chan and rolling up random things from the creation tables just for giggles. But I have more than enough armies in the fluff for my 40k fic, so I won't be using these guys. But they were just so interesting I thought it would go to waste otherwise, so I'm letting the guys here on Dakka Forums have your fun. Let your imaginations run wild and think up a story behind this craftworld:

Discovered in M34
craftworld hosts swamp biomes
Favorite Path: Path of the Outcast
Military Strength: Over-strength
Favored Tactics: Stealth
Favored Units: Jetbikes
Favored Warrior Aspect: Shadowspecter
Craftworld Hero: A lowly guardian who faced off against a keeper of secrets and won.
Allies/associates: Saharduin (Street sharks in space...with guns)
Bitter Enemy: Chaos Space Marines

TL/DR: A friggin huge craftworld who's hobbies include laughing in the face of the path system, hanging out with sharks, and yelling "BOO" when they pop out of nowhere to blow everything up with handheld prism cannons.

This is a very un-Eldar Craftworld. Hvae you by any chance read fluff pertaining to what a Craftworld and normal Eldar life is actually like?

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Why do you think I posted it here? If it were a NORMAL craft world, would I even bother? Everyone and their brother have a story about the aloof, all-wise, all-knowing Eldar, of their stringent adherence to the path system for fear of Slannesh, and the way they look down at all the other races. So unless you're one of those angry neckbeards who shovels "Grimmdark" on his cereal every morning and religiously sticks to the overdone cliches, then this should be a welcome break.

The Eldar don't stray from their Path system, especially on a Craftworld. That's like having a Black Templar Librarian; it just doesn't happen.

Please explain what an Eldar outcast is. Because the distinct image I got was that an Eldar outcast was somebody who rejected the path system. Is that not what it is?

Well you could have a craftworld that became more and more piratical and hence the Path system begins to break down.

We know that the Path of the Outcast has alot of appeal to many Eldar once experienced and that you can live as an eldar but not be tied to Spirit Stones or Soul draining as the Dark Eldar are.

So maybe a full time pirate craftworld?

Tell me more about the space shark race

It is a path, just like the other ones.

Ooh, the Saharduin? Well, they're an old 80's model that was in the original "Rogue Trader" magazine back when 40k was new. They've since been unofficially dumped by GW, but there's some pretty inspired art online about what they would look like if they happened to be cannon again/ if they were updated. Now, the whole idea of a Pirate Craftworld running amok with said spacesharks....are we seeing a theme here?

Path of the Outcast does not mix well with Craftworlds. Outcasts have the potential to attract warp predators and having any daemon near a Craftworld is a very bad thing. If the daemon embeds itself into the wraithbone of the Craftworld or the Infinity Circuit, very bad things can happen, including the loss of the Craftworld and thus all the souls inside the Infinity Circuit.

And for you, dear Tactical_spam, I present this from my sources:

The Path of the Outcast is what is considered as outside the Eldar Path. Those who desert the Eldar Path are known as Outcasts and follow the Path of the Outcast. The intensely capable Eldar mind sometimes rebels against the highly structured delineation of achievement which the Eldar Path offers. Without the protection of the Eldar Path an individual is likely to be driven crazy and eventually succumb to self-destructive urges. The worst fate of all is the Path of Damnation, but no Eldar will speak of this aberration and so almost nothing is known about it.

Check. Mate.

So what we have here is a whole craftworld who is treading a knives edge between realspace pirates and being corrupted and thrown into the warp. Very Jack-sparrowish. And the potential of being dirven crazy...so we've got a craftworld who think's they're a bunch of Ork Freebooters and they've gotten tips from space sharks on how to refine their technique.

The Eldritch Raiders tend to be found on Iyanden after the terrible losess against the Nids. A craftworld as described could be possible but also likely to be consumed by Chaos as their ancestors did - or simply become part of the Dark Eldar realm - they have a tricky balancing act to achieve.

A Craftworld of Outcasts is possible, but combining it with overstrength is unusual. Surely they would be depleted and at risk of far more casualties?

It's not to say a thing is impossible, but quite another to justify it and make it feel natural.

Still, I am rather a fan of the 1d4chan creators, so nice work.

I didn't do any work, I just rolled some dice. But thank you. Perhaps the reason they are overstrength is because they play the roll of "advisors" to lesser races (think Teams of Green Berets: Train and equip belligerents, then sit back and let them slaughter their enemies for them)?
