That's a fine list in my experience which should do well. Definitely the best load out for the Lord, target something squishy first to get the Goredrinker tally up quickly. I'd maybe merge two of the hound units into one unit of 10 to give him more protection or run one of the hound units close to the Lords unit so he can swap over if his original unit takes a lot of casualties.

There are a couple of options for changes to make it more MSU but it depends on what you're facing really. First option you could drop a melta from each bike squad, take the torrent on the grinder and then fit a Spawn into the list.

Or for more MSU drop the grinder altogether and take three single Spawn units and swap one cultist unit for deep striking bloodletters. There will be points left over for beefing up the hound units too.

I find single Spawn really useful for running close to other units and charging first to eat any overwatch attacks. They are so fast and with fleet they can easily get into position to charge. Even if they die you get a blood tithe. If it saves the hounds taking a wall of death it can be very effective.

Bloodletters are also underrated imo. AP3 weapons are great against MEQ and if you deep strike them into your opponents back field they have to be dealt with, taking pressure off your hounds and Spawn approaching from the front.

Everything you said makes a lot of sense i do love spawns and use them alot in higher point matches, but do you think the list can work without the grinder, its my only air defense and well ranged shooting.

Its hard cramming all the good units into 1k points.

So this could be the alternative list :

Chaos Lord - Juggernaut, Familiar, Goredrinker, Lightning claw, Sigil = 205

8 Bloodletters - BloodReaper = 85
8 Bloodletters - BloodReaper = 85

Chaos Spawn = 32
Chaos Spawn = 32
Chaos Spawn = 32

6 Flesh hounds = 96
5 Flesh hounds = 80
5 Flesh hounds = 80
5 Flesh hounds = 80

Like both lists.

I generally put my lord in a unit of spawn - the more the merrier actually.

The single spawn trick is a good one - been doing similar things with single deffkoptaz in my Ork-army.

You don't really need the lightning clan on the lord, i guess.

An alternative could actually be:

Chaos Lord - Juggernaut, Goredrinker, Sigil = 205

8 Cultists = 58
8 Cultists = 58

Spawn = 32
Spawn = 32
Spawn = 32

Soul Grinder - Phlegm = 165

GorePack

3 Bikes - 2 Melta gun = 96
3 Bikes - 2 Melta gun = 96

5 Flesh hounds = 80
5 Flesh hounds = 80
5 Flesh hounds = 80

This should leave you with 16 points to add some goodies.
meltabombs on the biker champs ...

I love Soulgrinders, they are great units but their anti-air capabilities are probably the last reason to take them. Even if I'm facing flyers it's usually best to shoot the grinders at something else to avoid wasting their upgrade weapon shots. 1k points can be a tricky limit to work with as you can't take all your toys, I find that you have to really make it synergise. I still think your first list is great but you mentioned you were aiming for a fast as possible MSU army so an option would be to trade in the grinder for a greater number of smaller units as they aren't particularly fast. I'd definitely take at least one grinder, probably 2 or even 3 at higher points levels though.

In my experience the key tactic for Daemonkin is to get right in the enemys face asap with as many units as possible for target saturation. If you have multiple hound and spawn units threatening a Turn 2 charge along with bikes in melta range and some bloodletters appearing behind enemy lines your opponent is going to have to make some hard decisions over what to target. Even rushing cultists up as fast as possible means they will need to be dealt with (or they can just camp an objective) I play a lot of assault based lists and really think that assault is underrated atm if you play it right. More units also means more blood tithe when they die; at 1k points (and most of the time in general for that matter) I usually aim for getting the FNP reward every turn, I think this is easily the best value reward. If I do end up with more I sometimes summon more hounds or a skull cannon.

A lot of this depends upon what mission type you are playing though, and the armies you are facing as well. MSU Daemonkin will do well with any Maelstrom component as the speed of the units enable them to grab objectives etc. If it's end game objectives then bigger units like grinders may be more effective.

You most definitely want the LC on the Lord as you should be using this with the Goredrinker buffs most of the time unless you need the AP2 from the axe.

I think at 1k I'd go with:

Chaos Lord - Juggernaut, Familiar, Goredrinker, Lightning claw, Sigil = 205

8 Cultists = 58
8 Bloodletters - BloodReaper = 85

Chaos Spawn = 32
Chaos Spawn = 32
Chaos Spawn = 32

GorePack
3 Bikes - 1 Melta gun = 86
3 Bikes - 1 Melta gun = 86

9 Flesh hounds = 144
5 Flesh hounds = 80
5 Flesh hounds = 80
5 Flesh hounds = 80

Or with the grinder option:

Chaos Lord - Juggernaut, Familiar, Goredrinker, Lightning claw, Sigil = 205

8 Cultists = 58
8 Cultists = 58

Chaos Spawn = 32
Chaos Spawn = 32
Chaos Spawn = 32

Soul Grinder - Baleful Torrent = 155

GorePack
3 Bikes - 1 Melta gun = 86
3 Bikes - 1 Melta gun = 86

6 Flesh hounds = 96
5 Flesh hounds = 80
5 Flesh hounds = 80
