Subject: Muhammad Ali: Greatest boxer of all time?
I'm always surprised how often Mike Tyson comes up in discussions about boxing and how rarely Evander Holyfield comes up. It seems to me that if Tyson deserves to be on the list (and I'm not saying he necessarily does), Holyfield should probably be on it too.
Greatest, yes, hands down, best? possibly not, its up for debate, I use the same logic for football, beckham may not have been the best, but he is the greatest footballer to come out of the UK, man literally changed the game.

I wont say GOAT....but one exciting guy to watch is GGG (Gennady Golovkin).
He has some of the fastest hands in the sport, combined with some of the most powerful....and he has a chin of stone.
Example: 4:00 shows him getting whacked near perfectly...but then...well...it doesn't go well for the other guy.
And while I won't say he is the most feared middleweight (even he downplays that)....it is telling that the other title holders in that division have avoided facing him until absolutely necessary.
35-0 (32 ko's)

The hand speed reminds me a bit of early Roy Jones... but he's ridiculously orthodox (unlike RJJ)... I think the #8 KO in that clip really shows the hand speed, especially the initial shot, where the camera is almost directly behind the head of the dude getting hit so GGG's fist was coming almost straight at the camera. Scary fast.
And your example at 4:00 is great, because not only does he take a near perfect hit, he knocks the other guy down while still recovering. It's scary the kind of power this guy can generate even off balance like that.

You just don't see that in boxing as these guys are so abdominally hardened.
I have only ever seen one guy do that to multiple people: Bas Rutten in the peak days of his MMA career.
Yeah, only other boxer that I've personally seen do it before that guy, was Roy Jones Jr. Not to say others haven't done it, but I think we also have to take into account the fact that he's fighting in the middleweight class. While I don't have the actual numbers or footage, I'd kind of bet that Light heavies and heavyweights may have more "body shot KOs" than the lighter divisions.

A lot of boxers seem to forget to attack the body. Doesn't matter how hard you look in the body, getting hit there will make it seriously hard for you to fight for long.
It's probably one of the reasons Fraizer did so well against Ali, he worked the body because he was a little short. Ali had a chin of granite, and relying on it probably helped his Parkinson's disease appear. But Fraizer mostly hit people in the gut.
That and he was blind in one eye and had arthritis in his elbow which meant for most of his professional career he was a hand and an eye down.

I think Ali actually does take the cake, I some results from a page called "Unbiased America". Not only did he have an outstanding career, but when you look at the competition, it was in a time rife with other incredible boxers. He took championship in an era where it was arguably the hardest to claim one.
