It depends ( a useless answer, I know, but bear with me).

The Blastajet gets a twin-linked kustom mega kannon - to all intents and purposes a plasma cannon - which if not devastating is not bad firepower for a flyer. It can provide a nice threat to marine infantry and can potentially crack open small metal boxes (rhinos, etc). The traktor kannon can squash tanks flat, too, but it's innacurate as hell. It's a good psychological weapon - the odds of a hit are low, and you're not paying much for the weapon, but the potential lethality is often enough to scare the defender into jinking with a skimmer.

The tail turret gets interceptor, too.

I think it's not a bad choice. If you plan on having 4 flyers, I'd definitely recommend one be a Blastajet due to the formation where you get a 3++ save in indomitable attack pattern.

If you're only taking one flyer.... depends. Dakkajets are cheap and provide good flak. The Burna-Bomma provides much better antipersonnel fire on the turn it comes in....but not much after that. It's bloody lethal against nurgle or tzeench warrior daemons snuggling up in cover.

The Blitza Bomma is the only one with reliable anti-heavy-tank, but it's not actually that good. Take it only if you really, really lack antitank in your army - and frankly if you want fast attack antitank, deth koptas with rokkits are a better plan.

You know its the same kit right ?
Just build a cool ork plane with all the bits you have and magnetize the gunz + gubbinz done.

How do you ever get a 3++ ?

Simple answer? No, none of the Ork Flyers are worth the plastic they are made from.

Complicated answer with reasons and rationale?

Dakkajets, upgrade to 3 gunz for 20pts (Your paying 20 pts for 3 S6 TL shots.....)
That gives you 9 S6 AP4 Rng 36 shots. Still at BS2 which means 3 hits on the first go around and the rerolls should give you 2 more (5 total for those of you doing math) For 130pts your paying for 5 S6 shots that will reliably hit. This thing is probably the most over-rated POS in the ork codex.

Burna Bommer: this is actually not bad on the 1st turn it comes in. Since the BRB rules are a bit weird for flyers in regards to how many shots a flyer can fire it can launch 3 skorcha missiles in 1 turn and snap shot the rest of its weapons (This is up for rules interpretation and needs to be established with your opponent/tournament organized BEFORE the game) However, after that? its useless, and those missiles and bombs it carries are only S5 and yeah they ignore cover but....not a big deal at S5.

Blitz Bommer: This is the perfect example of how GW hates to give orks GOOD options. This flyer could be so useful if they gave it S8 or god forbid S9 bombs....instead? S7. The only saving grace for this is that the weapon has Armor bane so it gets to roll 2D6 for pen. Unfortunately in true GW fashion they also gave it a special rule called "Screaming Descent" which gives you a 1 in 12 chance to kill yourself (no bomb dropped) , a 1 in 12 chance to not drop your bomb and instead you and your target take a S9 AP2 hit (Ork flyers are AV10 so this is an almost guaranteed penetrating hit) You also have a 1/6 chance to fire all your weapons at the target AS well as dropping your bomb, which sounds great but the weapons it carries? 1 Big shoota and 1 TL SupaShoota for a grand total of 3 S5 shots (not TL) and 3 S6 TL Shots. at the rear armor of the vehicle, not bad, but sure as hell doesn't equal the severity that you would face with the 2 bad results.

And Finally the Wazbom. It is EXPENSIVE! the most expensive flyer we have. It comes with a TL KMK and a Smasha Gun and a stick Bomb flinga.

The KMK is a good weapon, and if you still get +1 BS for shooting ground targets you have a S8 AP2 small blast weapon that has BS3...not terrible...except you can take about 4 KMK artillery piece with extra grots for the same price (And the artillery pieces are more durable). Downside to this is that it has the Gets hot special rule, meaning you have a 1/6th chance to inflict damage on yourself. And here is the worst part, its a BLAST weapon, so if you Jink to stay alive, you know because you have AV10 all around and die to a stiff breeze, you can't even fire the damned thing.

The Smasha Gun? well since nobody uses this POS on any other platform why would it be worth a damn on a plane? Range 36 S4+D6 AP1 Sounds good right? average rolling of 3-4 means S7-8 .....1 shot......so again, if you get the +1 BS you have a 50% chance of hitting with it, and a 50% chance that its resulting strength will be 7 or less. In other words, not reliable enough to justify its existence let alone its place on our new flyer.

Finally the stickbomb flinga, this gives a single 5++ against 1 attack, you can upgrade this to a KFF for 25pts and you can throw on a turret that gives you a Supashoota with interceptor for another 20pts.

Conclusion? Save your money unless you just want them for show. These will never make their points back and they will never provide enough distraction to make them worth taking, AV10 for all of our flyers means that a bolter can take it down.

I've tried it out in a couple games, and yeah, it's not fantastic. You'd be surprised how hard it is to hit things with a twin-linked small blast at BS2. (does the wazbom have strafing run? Or +1 BS due to an attack flyer?)

The tellyport blasta is well worth the 5 points, and though I haven't had it happen, 6s to wound and pen are big news.

Underslung gun is kinda crappy, mainly due to BS.

I don't feel as if the KFF or the tail gun are worth the points (KFF only if you're running a flyer wing).

Thing is, with the new flyer rules, our only half-assed plane (dakkajets) lost a BS, so our flyers as a rule are very mediocre.

But, it's a fun model. Don't get it to win games.

Aside: It is my understanding that the wazbom blastajet kit is going to replace the dakkajet kit outright (and it's like $15 more expensive). So, if you are interested in a non-wazbom flyer, you may want to get on it before they go out of production.

Certainly firestorm games indicate so. The cheaper kit is marked "out of stock from company" or however it was spelled and can't order it.

Which is why I ordered last one(along with 2 dredd box) when the new kit was released.

Like the model though I still need to figure how to handle flyers in 2nd edition to figure how to get actual USE for the my pair of ork fliers now

I bought two of them.
They are points Heavy like all the Ork stuff. (Newer)
The problem I have with it so far is that it's more points than 5 KMK's But it cost less to buy 1 Blast Jet than 5 KMK's.

The assembly instructions say you can have 4 of them in a unit. So. I'm tempted to buy 2 more.
