Hi guys,
I started Iron Warriors about a year ago and my army is about 2250 points painted (on and off, I know). I am currently cheaping out on a student budget, using all heresy era armour but doing things like finding mk1 rhinos on ebay to use them as deimos rhinos and that sort of thing. My guys are painted to tabletop standard.
I was thinking of focusing more on modeling and painting (have an airbrush but haven't used it on this army yet), and also buying models I like rather than ones that are "good" in game.
Any ideas on rekindling my excitement for the army?

One thing I want to do is do a kill teams but as a RPG style. level the team up but also use the more fun(less tactical) units that just sit on the shelf. Have a mission to save a important guy, or hold a small fort from whatever your group wants to kill. That kinda stuff. More team based than competitive.

Find someone of like mind and dream up a campaign.
My thought is a narrative campaign with dreamed up scenario's would be fun against any stripe of Fist loving Dorn son's.
Opposing Warlord's with a grudge never hurt either. Picking a memorable moment from each game to carry forward to the next (or all of them) is entertaining.

30k is about fluff and modeling anyway so building models you like is one of the prime points of playing.
We play massive games, just did a 9k per side game this past weekend with my Iron Warriors, was a blast seeing my whole force of silver and hazard stripes plowing across the field to take on a large fortress.
If you are bored try a different playstyle. People think of IW as a gunline army. I get bored with that quickly. Now I play a more in your face army moving tacticals across the field and DSing terminators with Golg and Perty directly into my opponents line(ok a few inches away). Yeah I have some long range support, never leave home without at least a 5 man tyrant squad, but I try to keep things mobile and doing something instead of simply hitting the easy button and sitting back and rolling shooting dice.
Try scenario games. My 9k game was pre-arranged a week in advance. We knew my IW were going to assault his fortification. Even threw in free walls for his side and limited cover on mine. I still pretty much had him almost tabled by the end of turn 2 but we still had fun.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

Golg making termies troops only works if he is the warlord. And I thought pert could only teleport terminator units (so not characters), I'll check when I get home.
OT: I basically have developed 2 play styles with IW. One Iron Fire with pert, one basically armoured assault using hammer ROW with golg. Very different and both fun. Will try to develop defensive with kyr valeb next!

This was abbreviated Apoc. We weren't following force org, although aside from FA my force org was completely full. When I say abbreviated, we weren't using the VP thing where you buy troops back in between rounds and all those special rules. Pretty much apoc points with stronghold assault rules. 3VP per LoW, 3 VP per primary bastion.

Maybe see if you can get (or bash up) Narik Dreygur so you can play some narrative games about his adventures.
He sides with the legion but ends up being recruited by the loyalists further down the line and gets up to hijinks with his robot buddies.
