Hey Guys,
I have a query about something I noticed recently. So I've been off of Space Marines for a long time due to the fact that I couldn't decide on a Chapter to do. After having worked on my Biel-Tan Eldar, I finally cleared my mind and decided to do the Executioners of Badab War fame.

I'm well aware of the Chapter but noticed something peculiar. For the longest time the screens and scans of them showed them in a metallic-blue paint scheme, and it seems most everyone tends to see them that way. However, when I got into them I noticed they seemingly aren't metallic blue, but straight up silver with yellow shoulders/sergeant helms. I even got the Badab War book featuring them and they are silver in it, not metallic blue.

I personally prefer the silver myself, so I will be doing them that way, but I'm curious: did their colour scheme change from the metallic blue? Was it just a bad scan that got it's way to the internet? Which colour are they officially in lore then? Lexicanum says silver, 40k Wiki says metallic blue.

Some of the metallic blue:

I prefer the metallic blue personally...hell I love the original camo scheme they had.

I'm pretty sure your first two pictures are from the same book, so I'd say that both are used and that the particulars of a marine's colors may be nothing more than lighting and wear and tear.

before and after badab perhaps?

Or just different lighting leading to a blue tint

It might be that the second and third color schemes look like Segent or 1st company colors.

the Chapters of the Badab War poster at my local GW Store. It shows multiple schemes for all the chapters, which I assume has to due with company colours within the chapters

Both the first and second image are on the same poster (iirc); there is certainly no colour fault in the images. I'm not sure of the fluff explanation for the differing schemes is, but I guess you can use whichever.

The first image, the metallic blue one, is also in the Badab War book, but in the book he's silver.

Looking at the image, it is entirely possible that they intended that to be a cool toned silver, but it turned out a little too blue. I imagine they are intended to be silver. Personally though, I do like the slightly blue look. Makes a change from the (imo) relatively boring gun metal

I think that unlikely, as the finished colour is pretty close to the non-metallic blue they used prior to Imperial Armour 10:

FW were just big on metals at the time for some reason, they used silver in lieu of white for the Marines Errant and Fire Angels in IA9 as well for some odd reason.

The colours are bit washed out on Hadraker and his squad but I'm rather surprised to hear people claim they are silver, they still look decidedly blue to me - compare the armour colour to the shield on his chest.
