So when Skitarii first dropped I built what I thought was a pretty good narrative/background for my army.

ForgeWorld Matrix:
The exploratory fleet is lead by Magos Enzo who was removed from power due to his belief in allowing his forces to have more autonomy than usual.

Skitarii army:
Vanguard - Lead by Vanguard Alpha Bob. Vanguard unit Primus has a history of success, the most notable of whih was the complete decimation of a Sisters of Battle Seraphim squad and Saint Celestine.

Dragoon - Lead by Dragoon Scuzzi. Known for being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

I went on game hiatus for a while and I'm looking to expand my army's fluff. But I don't know where to start as most of the Ad Mech units don't really call out to me as having personalities, hence why my fluff is a Magos who allows his army to develop individuality.

The following unita I'm looking for some inspiration:
Rangers
Iron Strider
Sicarian Infiltrators
Sicarian Ruststalkers
Onager Dune Crawler

Servitors, both types
Electropriests, both types
Kastelans and Datasmith

My Magos Techpriest I typically run as a random Techpriest on orders from my main HQ Enzo. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm trying to get back into 40k with my friend group and we are all narratively focused. My other army is orks and they have a lot of different fluff I've developed over the years.

Matrix, Enzo, Bob, Scuzzi? Are these a Reboot reference I smell?

lol yes. The Arch Magos of Matrix is Phong.

I'm thinking of naming two of my Kastelans as Hack and Slash, but I want to paint them the right colors for that.

No but I've caught a couple podcasts about it. Same with Techpriest and Skitarii though neither gave me much insight into the Adeptud Mechanicus units except for the Tech Priests and Vanguards.

All the skitarri units don't have much more fluff then them being portrayed as single minded killing machines. I don't expect you to find what you are looking for. But you can read into the Admech society and the deviations. This makes Mechanicum a good book to start with.

Ps you could also listen to the audiobook instead of the pod casts

My reading list for any AdMech player is Mechanicum, Titanicus, Priests of Mars, Lords of Mars, and Gods of Mars. There's some fluff in the Codex about certain Skitarii developing personalities, so take a look at that.
One thing to remember is that Skitarii's personalities aren't completely scrubbed. They are allowed some self-awareness, but can be "possessed" or taken over at will by ranking techpriests remote-controlling them.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.
