Subject: Best Way to Play a Titan Legion with Leviathan Detachment

My gaming group primarily runs with titans of all sizes. Personally I own knights and reavers. To hell with the hounds. Mostly Comp
So my question is this: What is the best supporting option for a Reaver at 2k points? (ie 550 pt army)
Option 1) - mechanicus repair kit: spam priests and things to fix the titan
Option 2) - IH Iroth father Repair + troop spam in 20x blobs
Option 3) Well rounded Obj based army for ground control
Option 4) Pure tanks, 100% tread fkery.
Option 5) Primarch + Titan
Option 6) Aircav + Titan
What do you consider tactically viable?

My experience with the Ordinatus army is that anything you bring will be vaporized - people won't shoot at the bigguns if they're smart on the first turn, so your little 550 point goons will have to endure the entire enemy army's worth of shooting, deep-strikes, and early assaults.
What you bring, in my experience, doesn't really matter. It's going to get vaporized and you will rapidly end up with just your superheavies.

A good point. I was thinking of taking some form of durable blob unit as my bubble wrap. Probably just 40x marines with a single MM threat in each. Maybe take las instead, and hang out in ruins

Could do, but I don't know many people that have trouble removing 40 marines.
Your bubble wrap is kind of irrelevant, it really is. The heavy lifting, scoring, killing, moving, shooting, and assaulting are all going to be done by your superheavies in a leviathan detachment. Everything else might as well be chaff in the wind, unless they are Battle Brother support units like Librarians that can directly buff the superheavies.

So, do you think that it would be best to take a pure offense tactic? I have considered a Dominus with 5x castallax with dark lances and MM. They might be able to cover the buffs needs, ccw options and long range support of the titan.

with 550 pts. I reccomend going militia actually. ~1-2 hundred for the provinances (warrior elite + abhumen healots (for stubborn and +1 T) or anything else, really) and 80 infantry for another 200 points would make for much better expendable bubble wrap.

Agreed. And with a 50pt ageis they would be quite durable. I only have Dkok models though. and only 20x at that =/

I would be able to fit a bare bones commisar, 2x10 gren squads and 3x lisks exactly at 2k
Might drop down one lisk, take flamers and heavy flamers with promethius barrels and armour/ammo crates for cover.

since you gotta run an allied detachement, it would probably be a bit cheaper to run as a single 18(20) mans grenadier squad, or better yet: just a regular militia squad for a grand total of 50 points. You NEED the force commander if you want Providences though.

Looks like I need to brush up on the AM for 30k. I kinda disregarded them as regular, if anything, over glorified IG stormtroopers.
You do bring up a bad ass point though. Allies are only 1 troops. Super blob and 2x flamers. Put all the guys in a shipping container and deliver to the battle field

the allied CAD is 1 HQ, 2 troops, 1 of everything else
well, there's 2 kinds of Imperial Army lists (technically 3, but we're ruling out knights for this usage (since it's 2 knight minimum))
1) Solar auxilia: 4+ armour save badasses with amazing rifles and/or volkite for 100-125 per squad. you COULD do something like a Legate commander + 3 lasrifle sections (1 troop slot) for 61 men on the board for 400 points
2) Imperial militia: customizable guardsmen equivalent. in this situation, for ~200 points you could bring a force commander + 40 infantry (more if you use levy squads) and some tanks with the rest of the ~300 points.

Correct. That's why you bring a Crusade Support Wing as one of your other Lords of War.
A pair of fighters with a few upgrades slot neatly into 500 points and give you (a) access to good quality Skyfire weapons and (b) the ability to rapidly get guns pointed at something cowering out of line of sight of your titan.
A pair of Primaris-Lightnings are a good one - they're flexible (depending on what you use the missiles as) and make for effective tank hunters. Thunderbolts are brilliant superiority fighters with unjinkable armourbane missiles for the first pass.

That is an excellent point. I don't need any AA since the Ordinatus Ulator tears planes in half, but a Titan detachment certainly could use some air defense!
Great idea!

Holy smokes this guy is brilliant. Most 30k armies have little to no skyfire, is anything, theyll have a dorito dread or a kheres mortis or kheres pod. Having 2x planes to zip around this towering titan would look and feel amazing to play with. It would bring some much needed scalpel like shots that will make the titan more effective. The idea of the titan army isnt to win via obj, or survive via tons of guys supporting its titan. its to take a huge fking robot and crush everything withing its firing arcs. The planes will bust open light transports for the apoc missle launcher, or finish off units barely hanging on after a reaver salvo. The idea should be to wipe the board clean to win.
