I was talking to a friend of mine who loves the fluff but has never owned a miniature in is life. Our conversations fallowed the usual twists and turns through the lore, but when he mentioned the thunder warriors I was glad to talk to someone irl who had even heard of them, but that led me to a nagging question. Have they ever released a model for the thunder warriors? A lazy mans searched on google only produces kitbash and scratch builds? So community, have they? If so what company?

There was one very old miniature:

"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."

I'd say that counts. Thanks for the picture. That looks like a Citadel mini from early 90's. I wonder if forgeworld will ever pump out a small line of them? Does anyone know of another production.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Funny thing is back in the day I only ever saw the guy with the axe in packs, but I never saw him any of the catalogues, only the bolter guy.

I got 3 packs of armour through the ages... am tempted to get another 2 packs just so I can have a full squad of thunder warriors... I'd probably use them as storm troopers or something instead of space marines.

Yeah, too bad there aren't more mk1 armored guys, as doing a full thunder warrior army (using the militia rules, genecrafted for S4 I4 and whatever that trait is that gives them 3+ armor) would be really cool.

Thunder Warriors all died during, and at the end of, the Unification Wars and the purge of Cerberus.

Wouldn't make sense to use them as a fighting force of any size, unless for like a crazy Zone Mortalis game against some War Hounds.

No they didn't - Thunder Warriors have popped up in a few HH novels.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Arik Taranis & Ghota in 'The Outcast Dead', for example.

And he is the only example. And no others are likely to pop up as a fighting force ever under any circumstance, given the Emperor's actions the last time he found them (see Cerberus).

Although, I guess if you wanted to use them, maybe Chymeriae Blackshields in Pariah Armor with a power weapon or some such? Though I still think it would be entirely anachronistic and unfluffy.

Well, as noted, the Dait'Tar were numerous enough to require legion forces to be sent in.

Renegade Thunder Warriors would have been hunted down, but it's not impossible that there might have been other Cerberus massacres in the early crusade. Anyone lasting to the heresy would have been much, much less likely, because 200 years is a big chunk of time for troops who don't have genetic immortality.

If I wanted to do Thunder Warriors, as noted, Gene-Bulked Blackshields (S5 T5) probably make more sense.
If I wanted to use militia, I'd not take Survivors of a Dark Age - thunder armour is notably inferior; it's not enclosed and only part powered, so sticking with carapace plate is probably fine.

By comparison, Gene-Forged + Feral Warriors lets you take WS4, BS4, S4, T3, I4, A2 Sv4+ 'grenadiers' - which is, if you remember rogue trader, the original statline of the space marine....
