Are we complaining GW is giving a free mini out that is over $30 Canadian? GW is giving something free and we still something complain about it?

Yeah. But is it 100% for sure? I don't personally care for it, I don't play AOS, but I'm sure I can fit it somewhere. It would be nice if it was an exclusive pose or something.

Where were the rumors that the other 2 of the first 4 would be models as well? That would make it 3 models and the comic, right? I would think at least one model would then be 40k. Something for everyone, 3rd model from LotR? That'd be cool.

Hopefully its a 40k model so the other half of the community can whine about a free item that they cant use, and thus the circle will be complete!

I don't play AoS and I was still pretty pumped to get the Sigmarine guy strapped to my White Dwarf when AoS dropped. Built him, painted him up, and he's seen some use as a Frostgrave Miniatures. I'm sure I'll find a use for the slaughter priest.

Im only razzing people because it seems ridiculous to complain about free things, unless its an STI, then I would complain about that...

That's the consensus but it seems kind of baseless. It would be kind of underwhelming to package an already-released model in the magazine, but if they've got a buttload of them lying around it'll let them get rid of stock I guess.

I know what you mean. We get free rules and war scrolls and people still complain about that. I guess the saying is true. Someone somewhere will always complain about GW no matter what they do.

It makes sense when you link it to the Gorechosen release.

It has been confirmed by a few GW managers (including one I know) that it will be the Slaughterpriest with hackblade.

Cannot wait. My September project.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I still can't believe "Slaughterpriest with hackblade" is a real name.

It's a cool model (I can definitely use him in Frostgrave), but feth me that's a stupid name.

I've only been half-paying attention to this thread as I don't care about White Dwarf. However this guy looks awesome, and I'd like to get him.

How do you get him? Are there actually 3 different models (that guy and 2 others)? What's the story here?

He's free with the first issue of WD, so you'll need to get hold of a copy if you don't want to pay full price for him. We don't know about the other gifts yet, other than the preview issue of the new 40k comic that's attached to WD issue 2.

There is only 2 models of the Slaughterpriest. One with the huge axe and horns growing out of his back, and the other with the hackblade and wrath hammer (your link). All rumours point to him being the cover mount to go with the Gorechosen release. Buy the white dwarf for a few bucks (was it £4/5?). Get him for a hefty discount.

Not sure where you got 3 models from.

I mispoke it seems. 3 gifts, not 3 models. I figured there might be 1 40K one, 1 AoS 1 and... who knows?

He's also a part of a 3 model bundle on the site, so that might be causing some confusion

£5.99. Not bad for the mini but still a bit steep for a magazine.

Actually, that's not too bad, you'd pay about that for something like Classic Rock or Total Film Magazine, which aren't close to 150 pages and chock full of ads. Assuming the production quality is of a good standard, printed on decent paper ect, then I think that's probably a fair price (and definitely more enticing that 4x£2.55 a month!).

Most of it's contemporaries (including total film) are around £4.50 (75% of the price), so it's high but not Visions high.

Hopefully it'll have enough good content to justify it

I dunno. More niche hobby magazines are about 6 quid generally. Guitar ones, digital art ones, I've paid about £6 for them before.

Hello all. Not long now until the new White Dwarf. We'll have the first of a few special previews coming very soon, but for now one thing we can tell you is that we've got a page for your letters. So, we want your comments, questions and requests - what you like most about the magazine, what you want to see more of, questions for Grombrindal or the team, and more.
We want to hear from you, so put your missives in the comments - we'll try and respond to as many as we can here and we'll feature the best of them in the magazine. You can always email us at team@whitedwarf.co.uk if you prefer. We look forward to hearing from you!

We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

True, but WD is chock full of ads too.

So are most magazines.

But when you strip those ads out, most magazines still have more content.

Plus the ads are usually somewhat relevant (all of the ads in W,S&S or WI are gaming related).
