Hey everyone,
So, here's a list i'll try in my local GW store for some fun games - i want the list to fit the Crimson Slaughter's fluff (i.e. Possessed & cultists, Apostle etc.) with,
let's say not much cheese. It totally lacks in Heavy Support so there's a good to fair chance to struggle heavily against higher armor value's;

+++ New Roster (1482pts) +++

Chaos Space Marines - Combined Arms Detachment
Chaos Lord (195pts)
-Axe of Blind Fury, Daemonheart, Mark of Khorne, Prophet of the Voices, Sigil of corruption

5 Chaos Space Marines 75
5 Chaos Space Marines 75

9 Possesed 276
-Icon of Wrath, Mark of Khorne

Dreadclaw Drop Pod 85
4 Chaos Spawn 128
-Mark of Khorne
4 Chaos Spawn 128
-Mark of Khorne

Maulerfiend 125
-Magma Cutters

Cult of Slaughter
Dark Apostle 115
-Mark of Khorne, Power Maul
10 Cultists 70
-Mark of Khorne
10 Cultists 70
-Mark of Khorne
10 Cultists 70

list edited. Many thanks. Reds8n
So, the Idea here was to put the WL & his Possessed-Friends into the Dreadclaw & drop it onto the head of something that must die,
get the Maulerfiend across the field with the help of the Spawn and use the Cult of the Slaughter to tarpit anything that comes close to my
space marines or get them into glorious bloodshed - which will, most likely, their own.

For those unfamiliar with the Cult of the Slaughterer, here are the special rules for them:
Spoiler:
The Desperate and the Depraved: Units of Chaos Cultists from the Cults of Slaughter have a Leadership of 10while they are within 9" of the Formation’s Dark Apostle.

Frenzied Horde: The Cults of Slaughter follow their Dark Apostle unquestioningly, stragglers seizing up fallen weapons even as mortally wounded warriors drag themselves to their feet to continue ghting. At the start of each of your Movement phases, roll a dice for each unit of Chaos Cultists in the Cults of Slaughter that is within 18"of the Formation’s Dark Apostle. That many slain models are returned to the unit. Each must be set up within unit coherency and not within 1"of any enemy models. Any models that cannot be set up are lost.

Any C&C is welcome

Edit: oh, and yes, there are free points i'm still not sure about.

Your list formatting is really hard to read, please don't copy and paste from Army Builder. Not only does it give loads of unnecessary information, but it also gives point costs for upgrades which is prohibited by Games Workshop.

I've made it more readable:

Chaos Space Marines - Combined Arms Detachment
Chaos Lord (195pts)
-Axe of Blind Fury, Daemonheart, Mark of Khorne, Prophet of the Voices, Sigil of corruption

You really need some anti-armor in this list. At the very least give your Chaos Space Marines some Meltaguns and Meltabombs. Your Chaos Lord could also use a Combi-Melta so he can shoot the turn he comes down, and both he and the Dark Apostle could use Meltabombs. This at least gives you a chance if your opponent deploys nothing but Leman Russ Battle Tanks (an increasingly popular 1,500 point list).

This is what I would take using your models:

Chaos Space Marines - Combined Arms Detachment
Chaos Lord 150
-Axe of Blind Fury, Combi-Melta, Meltabombs, Mark of Khorne, Sigil of Corruption

5 Chaos Space Marines 90
-Meltagun, Champion has Meltabombs
5 Chaos Space Marines 90
-Meltagun, Champion has Meltabombs
9 Possesed 276
-Icon of Wrath, Mark of Khorne

Dreadclaw Drop Pod 85
4 Chaos Spawn 128
-Mark of Khorne
4 Chaos Spawn 128
-Mark of Khorne

Maulerfiend 135
-Lasher Tendrils

Cult of Slaughter
Dark Apostle 120
-Mark of Khorne, Power Maul, Meltabombs
10 Cultists 77
-Mark of Khorne, Champion has Shotgun, Flamer
10 Cultists 77
-Mark of Khorne, Champion has Shotgun, Flamer
10 Cultists 72
-Mark of Khorne, Champion has Shotgun
10 Cultists 72
-Mark of Khorne, Champion has Shotgun

1,500

I took Shotguns on the Cultists Champions because they aren't completely terrible and there was 8 points left that I couldn't find another use for. This list will play basically the same as yours but will stand a chance against lists with Land Raiders and the like. And Lasher Tendrils are too good not to take

Hope that helps!

Appreciated!

We have a MEQ/TEQ heavy Meta here - but you're 100% right, i'm really weak with Anti-Armor.
Would it be worth it to drop 1 Group of Cultists & make it 2x3-man groups of Spawn and get another Maulerfiend?

If anything I would cut the Icon of Wrath for the Possessed, a few Possessed, the Sigil of Corruption, and/or a squad of Cultists to make room for another Maulerfiend.

Alternatively you can put your Chaos Lord in Terminator Armor which comes with a 5+ invulnerable save if you are worried about his resilience - this is a much better upgrade than the Sigil in my opinion. You won't be making many Sweeping Advances in a Space Marine meta anyway. You could also just take Kharn the Betrayer. He's a total beast in combat.

Keep the Spawn at 4 models each. They can keep up with the Maulerfiends and will apply some early pressure on your opponent.

Do you have any Rhinos? Those Chaos Space Marines would love some transports.

I sadly can't take Kharn, Crimson Slaughter cannot field any unit with VotLW except Cult Marines. But yes, i guess i can cut down some points by making the Troop of possessed one
man shorter and give my Lord some Terminator Armor. I think i drop the MoK from the Cultists, it's in the end very expensive for 2 attacks, at this amount of attacks in CC it probably
doesn't even matter anymore
Sadly, i don't have any metal boxes - but's on the shopping list.
Anyway, thanks for the tips, i'll field a modified version of this list on sunday.

I think the lord is fine, with the Daemonheart and sigil there is nothing the Termi armour would improve, on the contrary, not being able to sweep is actually quite bad.
However, you should play this list soon, once the FaQ is out you won't be able to take more than one artefact per lord .

Yeah, that will be actually quite good imho. Stacking Artifacts seems silly in my mind - it destroys the the use of Special Characters. Like i said, i'll play this list tomorrow against
Space Smurfs, let's hope his Grav guns get tarpit'ed by my cultists
