In today's match we had a rather heated discussion regarding a point I have doubt about:

-My falcon's chasis was place in a way that it caught a dreadnaught's side armor but if you drew a straight line between ALL its guns and the model you saw that all of them clearly targetted the rear armor.
Do you determinate which side the weapons hit based on the model's location or based on the straight line trajectory of the weapons?

Always measured from the gun barrels.

So I draw a straightline. Kay, then I was right.

This is covered in the "vehicle facing and armour values" paragraph on page 75 of the rule book in the Vehicles section.

To check which facing to resolve your shots against imagine two lines cutting through each opposing corner of the target vehicle that extend outward from the hull, this gives you four segments that your shooting unit can be caught in - front, rear and two side facings. As you're shooting with a vehicle you'll have to individually check which facing each of your firing weapons are in, different weapons may be in different facings and may need to be resolved separately.

You know, generally when people ask a question they are asking for an ellaborate answer. But I digress and I want to ask something more specific: would you consider the lascannon arm of a dreadnought the corner of it or would you only go for the box?

You know, this is the problem that I have with the Imperial Kinght's Ion Shield, 'I'm in the arc chosen, but I have line of sight to one of the other facings. I can ignore the Ion Shield now.'

Not line of sight but the weapon point straight into its ass. As in, I drew a straight line with both weapons and they pointed on the dread's ass.

A shot could enter a vehicle the right side and damage the left side for instance. Ahole palyers would then say my right side is against a wall and cant be hit...my tank tracks are behind a wall and cant be hit etc....a shell hits a tank/dread and anything can happed!

No, that is incorrect.

It's based on where the weapon or firing model is, not what they have line of sight to.

If you're in the side arc but can see the rear arc you still always hit side armour. There's no choice.

Heh. I have played that wrong for years then. Oops.
