Here's my Commander Dante. Some of the bits aren't perfect but I just used what I had left over...

C&C welcome!

Lovely paintjob but he needs something else to make him stand out as Dante. As he is now, you could put him in the middle of some Sang Guard and you wouldn't be able to tell him apart.

Same could be said for the actual Dante model. I think the normal jump pack (as opposed to the winged ones) makes it stand out enough from a Sanguinary Guard.

Looks good, OP!

That's what I was thinking too. Looking at the original model (from 2nd Edition) the things that I can see that set him apart from the Sanguinary Guard are;
- the wing detail on his jump pack
- the axe being single handed rather than double handed

Perhaps a pose close to the original model might help to distinguish him as the Lord of the Angelic Host.

I think he looks excellent...very much like the old model. Don't touch a thing.

Thanks for the comments!

I wanted to stay as close to the original I could using the bits I had, so haven't added anything to make him stand out that the actual Dante doesn't have.

He does stand out from my Sanguinary Guard as I've painted the gold armour very differently (this is more aged and antique looking whereas their armour looks new and smooth). Also they have the single thruster jump packs, black shoulder pads and no white. Dante is also on s bigger base, so he stands out quite a bit.

I'll take a group shot next time I set the camera up but you can see my Guard here: http://www.themightybrush.com/sanguinary-guard/

Your Sang Guard are gorgeous - as is Dante. Love it, leave it as is boss. Will you rebase your sang guard to 32mm?

As good or better than the original Dante model. I like it.

Thanks both!

@ Castellan, they're pinned to resin bases so would be tricky to remove... I think I'll leave them as I always run them with Dante and his bigger base helps him stand out

He looks good. My only critique is that he has the Death Company cross on his left hand but not on the other. I would have chosen a different chest piece for Dante from the Sanguinary Guard kit (the winged skull chest piece), but yours gets a bit closer with the lower part. Perhaps cutting the two apart and fusing them would work, but that would be very tricky. Sadly, a plain power axe from an Assault Squad is closer to Dante's axe than the Sangunary Guard axe, but whatever. Yours looks good. The Jump Pack is a close approximation, works wonderfully. Shoulder pauldrons are good.

I was very close to making my own Dante, but decided to go with the Finecast one.

EDIT: And I will give you this, most Dante conversions I have seen don't even bother to give him the correct jump pack. So yours is well above the rest for just that.

Thanks casvalremdeikun.

The winged skull chestplate may have been better, but that was the only one I had left over. The axe isn't a perfect match for Mortalis, but I couldn't have a Sanguinary Guardsman with the big impressive axe and Dante running around with the poxy little assault marine one!

I hear you on the hand. I actually chopped the Infernus pistol hand off the new jump pack Chaplain model as I'm using him to proxy Lamartes. That would have been perfect for Dante but alas, I had already built him at that point... I justify it by pretending it's his personal, subtle homage to his fallen brethren.

At any rate he looks great. The paint job is superb and the has all the right parts. I fully understand your reasons for the parts you chose. He will do great for Dante.

I did a google search and he looks like the dude to me. But all marines look like the same damn dude anyways lol.

Very nice paint job tho.

Thanks guys!

@ 6^ I actually had that exact same idea! I didn't actually have one to use at the time, and as the original model doesn't have one in additional to the helmet I left it, but I think it would add to the model!
