I don't know if any of you have ever suffered from this but basically my dislike for the necron warriors legs has put an entire army on hold.
for some reason I just cannot get past the crappy stance of the legs on the warriors.

my question or plea to you all is do any of you have some easy conversions or ideas to help me get over this hurdle?

I have come across a couple of tutorials on how to make them stand upright but unfortunately they are very hard for me(my hands shake terribly).
I did have a glimmer of success using a hair dryer to warm the legs to bend them straight, however it was difficult and I broke more than I fixed.

if any of you have played skyrim I toyed around for awhile with the idea of making them like those dwarf rolling guys, picture a torso on top of a ball.
I thought that might be cool but also thought it might be odd only being on the warriors.

I also really liked the idea of putting mechanical spider legs on them but I could never come up with an easy repeatable way to do it.

any ideas?

Before you consider a conversion for Necron warriors take a few things into account.

1. Reproduction, personally I don;t use many warriors in my Necron army, I tend to go full immortal more often than not, but if your using warriors your using between 10 and a lot of them, anything that looks awesome the first time will have to be repeated until it doesn't look that special anymore.

2. Their kind of meant to look like robot zombies at warrior level these guys have the WORST of the Necron chassis from a lore perspective.

3. Consider the impact of converting a FEW models per squad, you could use the warriors from the ghost ark kit to create heavily damaged warriors mixed with fresh ones, you mentioned converting them to stand upright, do a couple per squad and it will emphasize the impact without requiring to convert 40+ sets of legs.

4. Mechanical spider legs will get annoying and expensive and might detract from your character models.

thanks danp, all valid points.
maybe a worn decrepit look would be more fitting.
probably a bit easier to work on too

Seems like a probably expensive idea, but, could a scarab be used to make the warriors into mini destroyers? You could make the gauss rifles part of the arm too.

Are you having problems because you're finding the models prone to tipping, or your having trouble assembling the models because the stance makes it hard to assemble the pieces?

If it's because the models are tipping. I glue a nickle under the bases of any tip prone models. That solves that problem right out.

If it's because of trouble assembling I glue the legs on the base first, and let dry. Once that's on glue on the torso and shouldn't have to worry about the stance causing them to tip because the legs should be solid.

You do realize the small size of the Scarabs in comparison to the Warriors?

I suppose you could look into using skeleton warrior legs and combining them with the Necron feet/hips. It would be a tedious conversion process but once primed and painted silver they'd match pretty well I'd say. Not sure if the stance is improved that much for you but at least they aren't AS bent as the Necron models:

I do. Once you've snipped off the warrior's legs and attached the scarab to the pelvis the warrior is much smaller. To extend the 'chassis' further though, the back half of a spare warrior torso can be used as well. Didn't look too bad to me, YMMV.

EDIT: Bodged up a crude example just for the hell of it.

The walk of constipation was something that plagued almost all plastic sculpts at the time (at least it wasn't the "pee-run" pose the Berserkers got stuck with)

Personally I'm a fan of the old Necron Wraiths (not the Canoptek stuff!) and if you have the patience, maybe you can take some craft beads and wire and make some spine-tails for your warriors. High Gauge Wire and some thin beads should be enough for models this tiny and should be fairly easy to replicate en-masse (you just string a bunch of beads together, glue them in place, then cut to length for each warrior). That would be the easiest way I can think of, and cost effective (it shouldn't cost more than 5 bucks total and can probably outfit your entire army with the amount you get).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
