I know they're from 5th edition, but I always wanted to play these. Do they work out okay rules wise in 7th?

Like most things from previous editions, a couple word/rule changes and it'll fit like a glove.

Just another day playing 40k then just kidding, please don't let any CSM players in here...

It's....probably not as scary as you might imagine, but also not too fragile either.

The generic 'movie marine' has what's essentially a 36" range assault cannon, which is still not bad, especially with BS5.

A 3+ rerollable armour save, or 3+ invulnerable save, is nice, especially with T6, but is far from unheard of; after all - 3++ saves are fairly common issue now with the storm shield being standard kit for quite a few units, and rerollable 4+/3+ jink saves not being at all unheard of.

The thing is, 4 jetbikes with scatter lasers and one 'tactical marine' have about the same points cost - the bikes move faster, get an assault move, and probably have more firepower against most targets.

With infiltrate, the marines can still put up a creditable fight against most opponents. The missile launcher should make a fine mess of most things (even a baneblade needs to be cautious about 2 S10 AP1 hits), and the Sergeant can beat the crud out of most assault threats - but, yeah.....movie marines aren't going to (and shouldn't) be able to effectively take on superheavies very well.

I honestly think it'd be a fun game.

I've a soft spot for 'one man army' forces - I've played a few games with a 1500 point pure officio assassinorium force, and it's surprisingly good fun. I want to try knights errant (30k) at some point, too.
