I'm in the process of designing an inquisitor i was initially going to arm with a daemonblade and incinerator, however i was just reading the codex and with the psyker level one upgrade (i was going to do anyway) it allows you to replace a weapon with a force sword free.

Does this mean i can pay for the daemonblade and psyker, then swap the standard bolt pistol with a free force sword, thereby giving him +1 attack for two close combat weapons and the choice of which one to use in CC?

I think (if I remember right) the Daemonblade is two-handed, so no bonus attack - but yes, you'd definitely get the choice of which to use - and some of the bonuses you can get from the blade are relevant even if you're not using it to stab people (things like the extra mastery level or Feel No Pain).

Certainly the option is probably worth more than the odd bolt pistol shot.

You might want to chose something other than a force sword, though. An inquisitor doesn't have a high enough initiative to strike first, and is only S3 naturally, so I'd suggest either a force axe or force staff is probably worth a thought.

They can only take Force Swords. Before it was listed as a Force Weapon but the latest Inq codex specifically says Force Sword.

Daemonblades are 2Hed so two melee weapons won't add attacks. The force sword is still useful for when you need to instant kill something and for when your Daemonblade rolled stats that don't help you very much.
