So after making adjustments to the Ork Codex in BattleScribe I kept the ball rolling and decided to recreate one of my older projects I'd been deliberating on for months. A full codex for Blood Ravens, themed heavily around the game Dawn of War 2.

And here it is! The list of changes is pretty extensive, so it is only in BattleScribe for now (if enough people are interested in it and want to use it for their campaigns, I'll make a full written codex out of this for those without access to a PC/Android phone)

So, for an overview of what I've changed and added, just expand the spoiler below.

Installation

As previously stated, this codex is based around the unit set up of Dawn of War 2's campaign, with powerful leaders, sub-leader characters as sergeants, and a mass of customizable wargear options. To make these options show in Battlescribe, first download the catalogue file, then drop it into your catalogue folder for the "Warhammer 40000: 7 th edition" game system. In windows, this will be C:\Users\< YOUR USERNAME>\ BattleScribe. For Android, you'll need a file manager app, and the BattleScribe folder should be in the root of your SD card or phone, just scroll through the folders, find the 40k folder, and copy it in. Once done, open the roster editor, and select "codex: Blood Ravens (2016)" when making a new roster. select "Chapter Tactics: Blood Ravens" to make the units show.

Spoiler:
The fan favourites that have been added so far:

HQ

Gabriel Angelos

- Intended as a close combat beat-stick character, kitted out with his signature Daemonhammer, and options for Terminator armour.

Captain Apollo Diomedes

- A much more versatile leader, designed to allow any weapon loadout (even heavy weapons) for a smaller cost, though the chapter relics he can take will ramp up his cost considerably.

Chief Librarian Jonah Orion

- A ML3 psyker with access to wargear that can make him anti Chaos, or boost his Warp Charges.

Techmarine Martellus

- A boosted Techmarine with a Harness that adds +2 to BOTO rolls. Cannot take Servitors, but has options for up to 2 deep striking Tarrantula Sentries whose reserve rolls are chosen for rather than rolled automatically, and arrive on a 3+ with no scatter within 6" of Martellus.

ELITE

Tarkus the Ancient

- available as a Veteran Sergeant for Sternguard vets. Ranged chapter relic options. May initiate Tactical Advance, which boosts his units BS by 1, and allows them to re-roll armour saves, while giving them Slow and Purposeful for 1 turn.

Veteran Sergeant Thaddeus

- available as a Veteran Sergeant for Vanguard vets. boosts the squads mobility with Hit & Run, and allows them to use jump packs in both movement and assault. Pistol/Melee relic options.

Venerable Dreadnought Davian Thule

- Close Combat monster against blobs. Equipped with Relic Assault Cannon with an alternate firing mode of Torrent, gets Hot! (to represent a huge torrent of lead being sprayed) can also make a unique Seismic smash attack en-lieu of Overwatch. Small Blast after enemy has piled in anywhere in contact around his base. Unusable if a HoW attack causing a glancing or Penetrating hit against him.

HEAVY

Devastator Sergeant Avitus

- Available as a Veteran Sergeant for Devastators.Once per game per fire mode, can give his squad either the pinning or Rending USR's. Also confers stubborn. Has FNP (4+) for himself. Heavy Relic options for wargear.

Comments and suggestions welcome. I've tried to balance the points costs best I can by comparing to other similar spec'd heroes in Codex Space Marines.

EDIT: Poll added for better and quicker feedback! any other poll options you think are relevant, let me know.

Enjoy!

"Each must find their own way. If those in our heartland had witnessed the savageries of the void as have we they would know this. The hand of each of the starfarers is turned against the other; none will join their strength together just to see their ancient enemies prosper. Neither should we."

I'd like to look it over, but I can't get it to work properly for me. Any chance you could release a simple word doc or something with your rules?

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Sure, it'll take me a while to write up but I've been meaning to anyways

Just out of curiosity, what seems to be the issue with the BattleScribe list? Are you trying to get it running on PC or Android? (no idea how to fix it if you're on iPhone unfortunately)

It's finally finished, took a bit longer than I was expecting, went a little crazy with the formatting but I hope you enjoy

Just a note, this is designed as a supplement to Codex: Space Marines, so if you're going off the books as a reference you'll need that to make an army with it. Battlescribe is all inclusive.

As always, comments and suggestion are welcome.

EDIT: Appended to main post for clarity

Glad to see it up! I haven't had a chance to really look it over yet, but a few things that have jumped out at me include:

So does Might of Moriah grant +1 per turn number or a flat +1? Also, to clarify, these warp charges are generated in the psychic phase, right? Both players' psychic phases?

I've noticed many of your special weapons, such as Unrelenting Fury, say something like, "This weapon is an X with Y and Z rules." But many of these weapons don't actually have the profile of those weapons. Unrelenting Fury, for instance, says it's a heavy bolter, but it has more shots than a heavy bolter. Saying it's X with Y rules implies that you would use the profile for weapon X with Y rules. I suggest replacing the problematic sentence with a brief fluff sentence or something. "This heavy bolter is said to be blessed by the omnisiah to increase its rate of fire and its hatred for the unworthy."

Lance of Aurelia and Emperor's Light seem to have their descriptions switched around.

Edit: Also, Gabriel Angelos's God Splitter is only strength 4 and ap 5. That seems like a mistake considering his hefty price tag. Perhaps you meant to give him a bolt pistol and to make God splitter akin to a daemonhammer?

Thanks for the proof reading, I've amended the PDF now with the updates. I have to agree with the weapon profiles, the only reason I had it in all of them was to explicitly state what kind of weapon was (for modelling purposes) I have now updated them to be more fluffy while more tactfully including what each is

you are correct about Gabe's hammer too, it was meant to be S10 AP1, nice spot!

Just off the topof my head:

Wings of Shrike - The 'may be used in both phases' seems gimmicky more than useful, as the model is most likely going to be in a unit that can't do that. Not a balance issue.
Might of Moriah - High Str, Low AP, I-order, Instant Death. This is probably too good to exist without drawbacks. It's not even a Specialist weapon! Consider Unwieldy.
Shredder - Can't be fired between 5" and 6". The 5" profile does not need a minimum range. The 5" profile is worth 15pts by itself.
Lance of Aurelia - Significantly, SIGNIFICANTLY better than both other options.
Preferred Enemy (Xenos) needs to be defined.

Wings of Shrike - I see your point, I just wanted to try and make it kind of have a dual purpose depending on if you're running the IC solo or in a squad. What do you think would be a better alternative?

Might of Moriah - As it's intended as a force stave, unwieldy seems a bit overkill, would you consider a 10pt price hike and specialist Weapon as an alternative?

Shredder - while the gun on its own seems good, remember that it is coming on a model that is already 65 points for what is essentially a beefier scout with better accuracy. Considering fire warrior Breachers get something pretty similar for ~10pts a head, I think it works out reasonably.

Lance of Aurellia - this one I have to half agree with. Situationally, the others would be better when facing GEQ/MEQ/TEQ, however the points cost of these units compared to the ease of blowing up a vehicle or MC probably pales in comparison. I'd like to keep armourbane, however a price hike and reduction to S9 AP2 is probably needed too.

Preferred Enemy (Xenos) - I'm pretty sure this has already been defined? If I recall 4th ed Marines could take something like this through the chapter Diversity options, though I could be mistaken. The intention is preferred enemy against all alien factions.

For the Wings of Shrike, something along the lines of Move Through Cover or Stealth as it is a Raven Guard relic and they're all about that kind of thing.

Force Staves are AP4 for a very good reason. If you're going to drop the AP that significantly you need to have drawbacks that are just as significant.

For the shredder the point still stands - what you've got is worth more than 10 points, and is significantly better than the other wargear choices.

noted, I thought Force Staves actually were AP 2, looks like I was getting it confused with the Axe (I don't use psykers much myself) I'll update the profile to AP3 and boost the points a little. Maybe leave concussive off for a bit of extra balance.

Not sure about the wings of Shrike, moves through cover seems irrelevant to most jump pack units anyway, and even though raven guard are a stealth based chapter, a marine blasting into the enemy from a rocket propelled jet isn't particularly stealthy in itself. What about if I rejigged the profile for Thaddeus to include the current first half of the rule as something he can confer to Vanguards, while keeping counter attack (Wrathful Tactician in his profile) but adding hit and run to the Wings of Shrike instead, as this is a conferred rule? keep it in addition to the boost to HoW attacks.

Raised Shredder to 15pts, while lowering AP for 5" profile to 4. This boosts the total cost of Cyrus with that loadout to 80pts, which is pretty high for a 2 wound scout sergeant. also added a note to round to the nearest inch for determining profile (will upload all of this to the PDF version shortly)
