Hey folks. I recently bought the start collecting box to get into AoS this summer and got the first models finished!

Still hoping to pick up oxide paint to liven up the brass parts on the cavalry.

Hope you like them!

Thanks everybody. I based the colourscheme more around the old World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich king expansion.

Gorgeous brushwork, really wonderful palette. Hate the big leader's model, but the painting is outstanding. Beautiful colour scheme and the overall force must look stunning on the table.

Today's been a day. First the new Sylvaneth releases that blew my mind and then seeing your stuff is very motivating. These models are absolutely gorgeous and with the new points values for AoS, I'm ready to take the plunge. Thank you for posting. Very motivational paintwork!

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Oh, we are in a very similar situation then...

I picked these up because I always loved the end-times models and wanted to do them. But I wasn't going to paint another 200+ models like I did with my skaven (sold them by now) for traditional WHFB.

And then when I saw that the general's handbook was coming out (not just points, but also more campaign play in it), I also decided to take the plunge!

I "lucked out" with this box too. The first one I got had a mistake in it for the mortarch (2 identical sprues), so GW send me a whole new start collecting box free of charge. So I essentially have a mortarch with 20 skellies and 10 cav. Apparently, that's well over 700p already, so not bad for a €65 box

Due to a mistake with packaging of my start collecting box (problem with the mortarch), GW instantly sent a second box to compensate (including ALL the other boxes too, so I basically got double troops).

I finished those extra troops today and... By using some old chaos cultists, tried to maximise the cavalry box by making cairn wraiths out of the remaining bits for the hexwraiths.

Enjoy!

Two courtiers finished for my undead army. One standard varghulf courtier and one conversion of a Crypt ghast courtier, Both belonging to Vlagorescu's horde.

The crypt ghast courtier, Romanescu the engorged, makes sure that all the food at the court's banquets is of high enough quality for his king... Explaining his "enlarged physique". In battle, he valiantly wields the king's banner around to muster the ghouls to him. To any sane man, he's just wielding a half rotten corpse around like a deranged lunatic...

Lovely paint work and conversions, and I like the little bit of character development. I think the new Flesh Eater Court lore is great, so very cool to see your take on it!

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

One specific question - how are you doing your snow on the bases?

Made in be
Monstrous Master Moulder

Thanks for the comments

The snow is made by mixing PVA glue with sodium bicarbonate salt and adding a few drops of white paint to the mix.

It makes for a lovely thick goop that you can do apply over the base with an old brush and ends up looking suitably lumpy (hard t o catch on a camera).

Also, the salts give it a pleasant glistening afterwards as you'd get with half molten/frozen over again snow.
