Is Cassor essentially auto include in Baal or FT Strike forces?

With the changes to dreads as well it seems like he is a major threat if placed in a drop pod.

Seems like an auto lock to get the mandatory troop slot needed to fill the strike force requirements.

Considering Dreadnoughts are still easily neutered by shooting (which neither the FAQ's Dreadnought change or Grenades nerf changes) No Cassor did not magically become the best troop choice by getting a damage boost.

The fact that he ignores 3/4 of the damage table seems like it would hold some weight.

Still doesn't stop it from getting wrecked or imobolized (which a single grav hit does)

Hrm. Well none of my opponents play anything imperium related but either way. Guess I'll be running him in hopes he doesn't totally suck.

Cassor is a solid choice for filling out troop requirements without using scouts/tacs. In a drop pod he's even scarier and will probably panic your opponent when a raging, screaming fridge drops in his back line. Perhaps not auto include material though.

He's pretty nifty but I wouldn't say auto-include. Helps that he can challenge out key characters with S10 AP2 at I4/5.

Yea auto include wasn't exactly the term I meant to use. But it seems tacticals aren't exactly the strongest troop choice. I do have a 5 man Tac with heavy bolter in my Baal Strike Force but the FT one was only going to feature him since we are only playing 500 to 750 point games at this moment.

For my Flesh Tearers (pre-Dreadnought buff) I had a 10 man squad with as many flamers as possible. Was fun stuff.

I'd like to try Cassor as a lone choice, now that he has 8 attacks on the charge.

Cassor is a good troops choice for the flesh tearers. I like to use him along with the furioso as major threats for a backfield. The magnagrapple helps make sure he can get into melee with vehicles including Knights. Not bad for 175 points including the fast attack pod.

Armor overload is very nifty with the dreads! Cassor and 3 Furiosos for happy fun times. Works best when your opponent doesn't see it coming.

I've considered that exact thing, but also with 2 lvl2 librarian dreads, all in pods. Dropping 6 dreads in your opponents grill on turn 1 seems like a blast.

Cassor in of himself is nothing spectacular since aside from the Character type, he's just another DC Dread that you can't customize. His real purpose is the enabling of several battleforged builds by being a Troop Choice that is a bit more effective than the other competitions in the slot.

Cassor, on his own, can be used as an effective distraction, since he has a potential output of 8 S10 attacks on the charge and the Magna Grapple to ensure that he does get that charge. Again, in of himself this isn't something to sing home about, but for 175 points you can fill out your compulsory slot in a FT detachment and drop something in your opponent's back field that he simply cannot ignore.

Also, it goes without saying, but Cassor is manditory for anyone wanting to run a pure BA dreadnought build.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I plan on using him to intercept Knights. My goal is to drop him in cover in front of the knight so that if he wants to move towards the rest of my army he has to get close to Cassor. With 8 str10 ap2 attacks hitting before the stomps Cassor has a great chance to blow up knights on the charge, and its not a huge loss if he dies in the explosion. Even if they decide to charge cassor his 6 attacks should be enough to seriously hurt if not outright destroy the knight in the exchange, leaving my knight to gun down whats left. And anything that spends time shooting or reacting to Cassor is points gained in my book.
