Hi guys,

Hopefully I'm in the right part of the forum, apologies if im not.

If I put two power claws on my Lord and attach wrist mounted storm bolters (or glue two bolters together, essentially storm bolter, you know what I mean) on both arms, can this be played with? Can I field him ?
What are my options when I game?

Would be better in you make da call, but whatever. Strictly speaking you can't because you only have 2 weapons to replace. There's no weapon left to replace with a combi-bolter (csm don't have storm bolters). That said, I seriously doubt anybody would give you trouble for fielding the model.

Welcome to the forums. First off, rule questions generally go into YMDC, even ones pertaining to a model's physical loadout to it's rules-loadout.

Second, this question can be answered by looking at the codex. If you have not bought a copy yet, most shops will have a customer open copy. Due to GW being sue-happy, we can't give out direct rules unless it's a very ambiguous situation, and even then we only quote what we need to, nothing more.

In your specific case however I can go ahead and just say this: If your friends let you use it, then by all means. However most people will be expecting the version from the rulebook, which doesn't let you have four generic weapons on a Chaos Lord (every time he gets a new weapon, it replaces one he currently has).

In general all warhammer weapon upgrades work this way unless a unit specifically has a special rule or permission to do otherwise (such as normal space marine Terminators armed with Cyclone Launchers).

What then would be the most advantageous loadout if a wrist mounted storm bolter IS to be used? Only on one hand?

In game terms he'd be treated exactly as if he's just holding the bolter in his hand, being wrist-mounted doesn't confer any in-game bonuses (Abaddon has a wrist-mounted one to explain why he's allowed to have three weapons, one of those special cases I mentioned, and grey knights don't actually have anything in the hand with the wrist-mounted stormbolter).

as for actually using a combi-bolter, most people consider having a second close combat weapon better for the lord as his statline is more suited for close combat. Generally a Power Fist/Lightning Claw is if you wanna go all out for him, or choose a relic weapon if you have a specific purpose in mind or just wanna save on points.

Ok, im gonna do it like this. In this left hand, either a chain fist of power claw and in his right, im going to to strip the hand holding the combi bolter and just attach the bolter on an empty hand.

Eh I feel like that's meta dependant. Grenades are their own thing. They're not mentioned in ranged weapons or melee weapons. They are grenades, which can be used with different profiles.
They aren't weapons per se, but can be used to make shooting attacks or as melee weapons in an assault.

That would be fine, though I'm still wondering why you would want a combi-bolter in the first place, other than for a barebones lord maybe to get fearless?

I've been painting 40k for years! BUT I've never played more than three demo sessions at GW in all my life.
So I'm really green in regards to playing, like REALLY green lol

Combi bolter? I thought now that im removing everything and leaving just an empty hand with a wrist mounted storm bolter, is that a combi? it a combo with what? it's just a bolter no?

Tbh man, I just love the aesthetic about, but hey, if I get "fearless" then that sounds good lol

can you tell me what a combi is?

They're prettty similar. A strombolter is the newer version of combi-bolters, in game terms it's an assault weapon that shoots twice up to 24(?) inches.
A combi-bolter is essentially two bolters glued together. In game terms its a twinlinked bolter.

As for modelling, anything that looks remotely like a bolter with two barrels can pass as either of those.

So if it were on paper, what do I want to use to get this fearless?
Hopefully you're gonna say storm bolter?

The chaos lord is fearless by default, which is something that happens to spread to the rest of a unit he joins. You don't need to do anything to get that.

Also, the combi-bolters and storm bolters are so similar looking that you could easily use a stormbolter on the model if you prefer the look. Besides, he could have looted it.
