Getting back into the game and with the recent release of imperial veterans I want to run a double defender list that is both versatile and competitive. Below is my attempt said list:

Tie Bomber:
Gamma Squadron Pilot - (Extra Munitions, Long-Range Scanners, Plasma Torpedoes)

Tie Defender:
Countess Ryad - (Engine Upgrade, Push the Limit, TIE/x7)

Colonel Vessery (TIE/D, Tractor Beam, Twin Ion Engine Mk. II, Veteran Instincts)

The overall idea is for the bomber to hang back away from the action, support the Colonel with target locks and wait for opportune times to release a salvo or two. The Countess will serve as an agressive dog fighter utilizing her maneuvering and speed. The Colonel will utilize target locks supplied to him by the bomber to tractor and engage a given target lowering the agility for himself and his wimgmen. I feel this list is fairly balanced albeit a bit fragile, I was debating autothrusters on the countess instead of the EU.

Thoughts, criticism, comments and questions are always welcomed.

Well, for starters you've got the MkII on the wrong ship, there's little point in assigning it to a ship that doesn't need to stress itself, when you've got a PTL ship that could make far more use of it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the countess' ability to execute a green 2,3,4,5 straight or k-turn turn, clear stress then be able to boost and or barrel roll provide more versatility and flexibility then having green banks added?

As for the MK II on the Colonel it seemed like a decent use of a left over point as a means to give him a bit more flexibility if stressed. If you have any suggestions on where to put that extra pointo if not on the MK II?

The Countess is still going to be quite predictable, if she's stressed she's going straight forwards, boosting and/or barrel rolling adds a little width to her end position, but ultimately she is just turning a line into a corridor.

At PS5 any half decent Ace (heck, not even an Ace) with post manoeuvre repositioning will eat her alive, not to mention how limiting the straight line becomes with obstacles and other ships to account for.

Switching the Tie MkII to her at least gives you options to clear stress that will at least make your opponent have to consider rather than simply assign a manoeuvre conservatively and then use their own boosts etc to take her apart.

I posted a bit about this in one of the other topics... with her low PS she's often moving before other aces, so there is little advantage in choosing a shorter move + boost, when you can just choose a longer move, save the action, and get the x7 evade token. It probably depends a bit on your meta, if there are a lot of low PS ships then I guess she can pretend to be an arc dodger, though Predator might be better than PTL in that case. Against aces she's going to play like more of a jouster, so I think she needs more defensive options really.

I'd almost prefer Elusiveness on her over PTL. It's cheaper, and probably as close as she can get to a PTL focus+evade turn without having the evade action on her bar. It also has the minor perk that she doesn't need to take the stress unless she gets hit, and it has some usefulness against things that strip/ignore tokens (autoblasters, Carnor Jax etc...)
