My house sits in the middle of Mountain Mesa. The fire surrounded my neighborhood on three sides! But thanks to the fire crews and some really crazy pilots on the water drop helis and planes...no damage to my area!. Power gone for a week, internet longer, but...safe!

Wow, glad to hear you're okay! How was this in comparison to the big fire in Canada? Is that one still raging?

Glad to hear you and your house survived!

The rapid movement of the fire was frightening and i feel horrible for the two elderly women who perished on their property.

Are you in the clear now?

Good deal. Nothing like having the planes coming right over your house and bombing is it. Cool yet scary as hell am I right?

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

I'm safe, fire, was scary. Fire started on the other side of Cook's Peak from me...took it 24 minutes (according to fire people) to travel 3k feet up the mountain, then 4k feet down into my valley....a distance of nearly 8 miles!!! gone That is how bad the wind is. The fire is now burning far away and mostly contained. In total I don't think it was as bad as the Canada one or even the other one burning in Cali...but two separate areas lost a whole neighborhood...so ugly.

DarkTraveler you know the area?

Not intimately as I don't live there, but I am down in the San Gabriel Valley and have been watching news updates on KTLA since the fire broke. The Azusa and Duarte fires were not too far from me and some co-workers were evacuated but luckily didn't lose any property. I heard a horse stable burned in one of those two fires, though, and some horses were lost which was sad to hear.

Despite that ugliness of the fires it was kinda neat seeing the water and fire retardant drops from such close proximity. Those pilots are exceptionally talented.

You can only hope that this burn will prevent a recurrence in the near future.

Well done for your luck, anyway!
