... are they really trying to claim that cataphracti terminators can take bikes? jesus, I thought it abundantly clear that all the restrictions of termy armor apply to cataphracti armor in terms of war gear

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Also full of dubious stuff, such as termi armour + bike.

Subtract the bike, I know that's a load of carp. Is he still worthwhile? Stick him with a command squad?

I regularly run him on a bike for a 2+, 3++, and a 2+++ thanks for the Fists of Medusa Strike Force. REALLY hard to kill.

RAW you can. It's an obvious oversight and extreme RAW abuse, but it is RAW. The entry on the catahracti armor states it has the sane restrictions as termy armor in regards to things like formation requirements and some other things ( I don't have the book in front of me atm), but it does NOT say anything about special issue wargear restrictions which a bike and jump pack are part of. I even made a topic about this a dew months back when AOD dropped. The consensus was that RAW it is legal.

That is the most redonkulous thing I have ever heard though. In Cataphractii armor he would have to take two bikes and wear them as rollerblades. I was just thinking of using him on foot, in cataphractii armor, if I did. I would only use him in those situations where someone is being a power player, and deserve to have the power play thrown back at them.

Yeah it's stupid and as I said it's obvious RAW abuse. If someone were to try and bring him like that to a random game it would be a huge flag to me on what kind of player he is.

Ya, SW have Armour of Russ, same thing - abuse.
I do believe these new FAQ's fix that tho

Notice: they use the word FAQ and not Errata, meaning to answer questions for what is already in the rules, not an adjustment to the rules

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The concept for this lil fellah is definitely nice... however I have learned to not rely on any particular model or unit, instead allow the attrition of battle in this game to have its dues on anything in any random way (like immobilized Walkers when trying to charge into CC lol!)

Putting too many pts into something is just not sound mathematics, however - it does grab the attention of the opponents, whether to avoid or to focus, and that has its merits

yeah see people who even try to argue that? rules lawyers of the worst kind. Common sense needs to apply, I don't partiuclarly want to deal with someone whose first instinct to anything new is to go over the exact wording in an attempt to break the obvious spirit of the rules.
