If they are to big they will destroy the planet, even a couple miles in length will be large enough to destroy an entire planet... Are they smart enough to slow down before they impact the planet?

They don't waste valuable transports. They just use the remains of the last planet they ran into and broke to make more Rokks to repeat the cycle.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Do Orks crash into

Yes.

No matter what the rest of the sentence is, the answer is yes.

Are they smart enough to slow down before they impact the planet?

Probably not usually. An ork kunnin' enough to rise to Warboss or a particularly self-aware Mekboy would probably realize the danger and at least attempt to pull the metaphorical brake, but...

Roks are a more typical tactic, though. It's good old Ork tradishun!

A space Hulk is basicly made out of planets and starships stuck together after having bumped into each other. So they are certain to make Rokks out of it to assault the planet. No need to crash onto it with the whole space Hulk.

Outer Space, Apparently

I wouldn't doubt that an Ork Kaptin has crashed a Spacey Hulk into a planet before; that would be an all new level of Ork stupidity.

Most Ork Waaaghs! and smaller fleets get into orbit and fling the Rokks they've been towing from space towards the surface. Once these land, they can use to Telyporta technology on board to teleport troops and supplies to the surface while the Space Hulk provides "fire support" from orbit. And by fire support, I mean wildly shooting at the surface and hoping they hit the right target.

Don,t orks have drop ships etc too?
Roka, but they also have ramshackle but solid drop ships to go from orbit to planet side.

My bad, they do have orbital transports (as shown in Space Marine (God bless that game)) They wouldn't be the main form of attack though in a typical invasion; they would carry out the initial stages of planetfall by dropping in troops and vehicles (as well as providing more "fire support"), but it's the Rokks that anchor the Orks on the surface. Without them, the Orks can't keep up the pressure they need to overwhelm the planet's defenders.

True.
The drop ships and transports are second wave and reinforcements to the first orks who slam home in the roks.
There both munitions and transports, and mobile fire bases.... There everything a invasion needs..

If I was an Ork who had more headroom with Mork than Gork, I'd probably rely on my Rokks more; "nimble" is not the first word that comes to mind when dreaming up Ork ships - more like "slow" and "flying targets". I'd assume the success rate of most of those transports and gunboats is fairly low in the face of a well defended planet.

Still, do it the Orky way - jus' keep frowin' 'em at 'em!
