As the title says, should I read the End Times novels? I have been fortunate to get the 3 paperback omnibus collections for very cheap, with the following stories;

Vol. I, Lords of the Dead
The Return of Nagash
The Fall of Altdorf

Vol. II, Doom of the Elves
The Curse of Khaine
Deathblade (The End Times)

Vol. III, Death of the Old World
The Rise of the Horned Rat
The Lord of the End Times

Disclaimer: I read 40k novels, I am familiar with most of the authors for the End Times books, but I have NEVER played Fantasy or AoS. Only 40k for 8 years now.
Are the stories within good enough for me to understand what is going on, or will I be completely lost?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot!

I wouldn't read them because I find End TImes on the whole to be underwhelming, terrible and even more of a rip off than I expect from GW.

'Murica! (again)

I'm a BL fan and to me they were epic, in 22 years a fan and an apocalyptic finale, but I like world endings and that type of stuff. You don't NEED them, of course, but I liked.

So, just throwing this out since it's specific. I interviewed each author (except Josh who couldn't) on 7 books and they were on diff episodes of Combat Phase but I put all the audio into one Megasode as well which is only interviews in order--includes the dulogy finale of Gotrek & Felix.
You can find it after ep 96 I believe, Megasode on iTunes of direct links below to pick your poison.

Yes. I think they're a great read for a big epic end of the world fantasy story. They tied up a few on-going storylines that were in previous books.

You should read them if you want to know how the gods of AOS achieved true god hood and how chaos won the war of the old world it's worth a read. It's like the horus heresy of the fantasy now if you want to describe it.

If you are not interested in that I recommend the first AOS campaign book since it starts of pretty much right after the events of end times.

In some of the AOS black library novels they continue some of the character development from end times for character like mannfred for example.

I was skeptical, but they are a lot better than I thought they would be, especially if you are a long time old world fan. Most of the old special characters make an appearance, it fills some of the gaps from the big books, and there isn't too much overlap that you feel that you are reading the same story.

Funny enough, I decided to re read times of legends and end times the funny thing is in the time of legends books like legend of sigmar they put the warhammer books in order leading up to end times and the starting few books of AOS.
