I was listening to Radio Scotland this morning - you could very nearly hear the mental gears changing. The Beeb is getting even worse at reacting when events don't unfold the way they "should". I'm willing to bet there are thousands of pre-prepared words for a Clinton victory which will now have to be binned from the website. They had some guy at the Democrat "not a victory party any more", but apparently nobody at the Trump shindig.
And they're like this for everything. The Beeb keeps trying to tell everyone what's supposed to happen and then gets seriously offended when it doesn't.

Well, this could turn out to be good for us. We shall see. If Juppe or Sarkozy proceed to give Hollande a good kicking, the entire Western political map could be redrawn shortly.

Trump annoyed a lot of people in Scotland with his golf course, and a lot of people annoyed him by refusing to sell their houses to him.
If anybody is getting invaded, it's Scotland.

I regret not making a bet now.
To make this post a little bit about British politics, I wonder if we'll still be a back of the 'queue' (because Cameron didn't tell him to say that) for a trade deal now?

Well considering that Trumps position on international trade has generally been that it is "bad", I'd say that queue will basically be told to shove off.

Daily Mail reporting that Nigel Farage is on his way to Washington.
Farage joked that he hopes Trump makes him the USA's ambassador to the EU.
Anything can happen now, I would not rule it out....

So Nigel Farage is going to be the new Tony Blair, trailing after Trump like a puppy hoping to get a treat and a scratch from its new master.

Well, when the UKIP gravy train at the EU parliament comes to a halt, he'll need something for paying his bar bills.

I doubt it, but I'm sure there'll be a convenient deal in place that allows Golf based investment/profits to flow freely between both nations.
The Islington based manager in my office is literally devastated by this mornings result coming as it does after Brexit.
And she's not the only one; many a sad face in Nandos on the City Road this lunchtime. Strange times.

I'm hoping that after recent events, the political establishments on both sides of the Atlantic will be doing some serious soul searching and reflection. We're seeing the same thing across America and Europe - people are fed up with their countries' political elites, they are fed up with the status quo.
Its why we voted for Brexit. Its why Jeremy Corbyn has managed to hold onto the Labour leadership. Its why Right wing parties across Europe are rising in popularity. And its why America has just elected a buffoon into the most important political office on the planet.

+1
We also have several European nations about to have their elections, it could be a very different world in a year.

I don't necessarily see Brexit as a right wing issue.
Allot/many/most of those that supported it were from Labour heartlands.
Perhaps the US election result and Brexit are more that people usually disenfranchised/ignored by common political attitudes from all spectrums have come together to deliver a verdict upon them.

And unfortunately by doing so, often handed more power to the people who have actually caused those issues.

I did, and the people I know spent the last month laughing at my opinion. Shame it never occurred to me to place a bet.

Maybe the voting public did...Now might be the time to find out what the hell the the average Frenchman actually wants/needs/thinks now. It might lead to some accurate reporting other than being cast as misguided, ethnic hating, racist xenophobic, nationalists.
