Well that was a fun weekend.

First time to ATC, went 3-3-0 with my army. Two of my losses were due to total blow outs by my dice... but what can you do.

Thanks to all the teams who had the distinct experience of playing against team Stamos M40.16. We had a blast, and it was in large part due to all of you guys.

Also my first year, was a great tournament.

Missions were fun to play and I went up against some tough armies. Came out with 4 wins (tabled two of those) and 2 losses. Unfortunately, the fun of the event was tainted by the fact that both of those losses were direct results of players giving themselves illegal benefits. I am sure they were honest mistakes. I questioned each case at the time (both cases were Forge World units I wasn't familiar with and didn't have the rules for myself) but each insisted that was how the unit was played. What I should have done was called over a judge but I just trusted that they knew what they were talking about and moved on with the game.

Later, when I was able to verify the rules, I realized they were clearly mistaken. Those key units should have been dead Turn 1 and one of my key units still alive Turn 2 (since their killer would have been dead). As it was, I almost won that first game anyway. Would have if it hadn't gone to Turn 7. Did keep it to a minor loss though. Points for the team!

Sorry about being cagey talking about players and units. I don't want anyone to feel like I'm accusing them of cheating because I really don't think they were doing so intentionally. I should have been more persistent since it didn't sound right to me.

Overall, I am quite happy with the games. Some were very tactical games with difficult terrain (one table had large blocks with lots of places to hide inside and under) and all of my opponents were friendly, interesting people. And for a first time at ATC, netting 88 points for my team doesn't seem too bad. I definitely intend on playing again next year!

I went 3 and 3 myself. Two of my losses were due to just abysmal dice. My last round opponent will verify that. He swore up and down he's never seen someone with such horrible luck.

First time I ever got to play against Thunderwolf Cav this past weekend, and I ended up with 3 games against them!

You played eldar [?] vs. John last round? If so, that was our team. We sucked up the world, but beers were ingested and the weekend did not go to waste. It was pleasant playing against you guys [and honestly, so were most of the guys we played against]. I had a ton of bad beats because I haven't played in a long time and jumped right into a major tourney.

Yep, that was the guy, you were the team. On the bright side of the game ending in 20 minutes, I got to watch all the rest of your games play out.
