Is this a good opportunity for me to talk about Superman in general and how (in my opinion), he's not as rubbish as everyone thinks?
The problem is generally, I've found at least, is that people haven't really experienced the right Superman stories.
The Lois & Clark, Christopher Reeve Superman kinda story, while fine, is very much formulaic and kind of lacking in drama and is generally described as 'boring'.
Conversely, the Zack Snyder style grim dark, murdering Superman is completely on the other end of the spectrum and kind of loses too much of what makes Superman, well, Superman.
If you kind of want to give Superman a chance, there's 2 animated films I'd suggest, which should be available on the various streaming sites.
The first I'd suggest is "Superman VS The Elite" which is based off of the comic, "What's so funny about Truth, Justice and the American Way?"
This film is a direct response to the idea that Superman is boring and he's not cool or edgy like Wolverine or Deadpool and kind of addresses the 'Christopher Reeve' style image of Superman within the first oh, 30 seconds of the film.
The second film, which only really should be watched after the first one is called "All-Star Superman" based off of the comic with the same name. It's kind of a light touch on a lot of storylines in the comic but it's very much about, "What makes Superman, Superman?" and is a great counterview to the Zack Snyder, dark, depressing interpretation that frustrated Frazzled.
Comics-wise, I'm not really too versed in them, but I've just finished reading "Kingdom Come" and, on top of it being literally a work of art image-wise, it's a brilliant Superman story, full of moments of what the kids call nowadays, "the feels."
